Lake Sakakawea on the rise

It's great news for Lake Sakakawea.

The high water mark for this summer is the highest predicted in a decade.

Each March the Corps of Engineers releases projections for the year.

Officials believe this summer the lake should reach a level of around 1845 feet above sea level.

That's forty feet higher than the lake level in 2005when it dropped to an all-time low.

That means great access for boaters and enough water for fish to thrive.

Phil:"You know it's anticipated that get up into the mid 40's which still puts us about 8 or 9 feet below the top of the flood control pool which everyone is familiar with back from 1997-98 when the resevoir was a full pool the forecast right now is putting us about 6 or 7 feet below that but there is still a lot of winter left."

Projections just released show Lake Sakakawea should rise another 8 or 9 feet by July. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
