Flag For the Fallen

The goal is to 'honor and remember' soldiers who have died for their country... with a flag, specifically for the fallen.

This afternoon, the founder of a national campaign for remembrance presents a North Dakota family with an "Honor and Remember" flag.

George Lutz lost his son in Iraq in 2005... Since then, he's been trying to reach every state... to adopt the flag.

North Dakota is the 26th state he's visited so far... and many military families showed their support.

He says it's a perfect emblem to fly next to a U-S flag.

(George Lutz 32:33) "We can't fly that flag, except on the blood of those that never came home, they needed some tribute, and these families deserve some way to say thank you."

He says there is a bill in Congress to make this a national symbol... but every state can choose to adopt it too.

The Ferderer family, whose son D.J. died overseas... says it is an honor to receive one.

(Dina and Dennis Ferderer) (Does this help in the healing process? "Yah because we know there's somebody out there who is not going to forget, somebody cares to do something, and as we told George, whatever we can do to help this across, we want to be there to help."

The Ferderer's say they will hang their "Honor and Remember" flag in the room where they keep lots of D.J.'s things... and hope to have another one to fly in the yard soon.
