Teller Charged In Souris Bank Robbery

It was an inside job.

That's what the FBI is saying about the Bank robbery in Souris that happened on March 25th.

The FBI says 45 year old Tamara Lynn McDonald, the teller at the State Bank of Bottineau is Souris, has been charged in the robbery.

In the Affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Ryan O'Neil, he states that McDonald has been stealing money since December of 2007 to help pay off her debt of around $80,000.

The bank president estimated $18,000 was unnaccounted for from the bank.

On the morning of March 25th, McDonald knew that bank employee Margaret Marsden was on her way to complete an audit in the vault which would show the missing money.

A photocopy repairman arrived unannounced that day and McDonald saw him as a possible suspect for the robbery

Shortly after the repairman left, McDonald used a large rock that she keeps as a paperweight to strike herself in the face and the back of the head.

She then forced herself to vomit and laid down on the floor waiting to be discovered.

McDonald stated she spent approximately $6,000 of stolen money and then turned over $11,700 in U.S. currency and $670 in Canadian currency to law enforcement.

A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, April 30th at 1:30. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
