Chamber Awards
Today, the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce handed out its annual small business awards. Here are the winners:
Mike Fink Award
This award goes to the business that has been in business in the Bismarck-Mandan area for at least five years. They have to show a revenue growth over the last three years by 20% total and they must have shown a growth in the number of employees. Three businesses received this honor. They are
New Entrepreneur of the Year
This Award went to the individual who serves as a majority owner and operates a small business with a three year track record. In addition the person must have increased employment opportunities, demonstrated entrepreneurial potential necessary for long term success and economic growth, social responsibility/ community service, overcome challenges, focus on the future and use creative technology. This award went to Andrew Zoller of Rock 30 Games Small Business Person of the Year
This award went to the person who shows a strong history of business in the community. The winner of this award was Brad Miller of Miller Insulation Inc. The other nominees were Matt & Kim Levine (East 40 Chophouse), Janice Martin (Lady J's Catering), James Mellon (Midway Lanes), Paula Haider (Haider Glass Specialties), Perrie Schafer (Schafer Financial Inc.), Evan Hass (Dakota Carrier Network) and Pamela Schmidt (SIA Marketing/ Schmidt Insurance) Granite Award
This is the highest award the chamber hands out. It goes to a business that has been in the community for at least fifty years and has demonstrated a commitment to the community. The nominees for this award were H.A. Thompson & Sons, Northern Improvement and McQuade Distributing. The winner of the award is...H.A. Thompson & Sons

Thanks for your update on the A & W.. Why is it that all we get in Bismarck is the same ole same old. Why isn't there a Sonic or Culvers, Jimmy Johns, Boston Market in this area? Any ideas why?
