Runaway cows

The cows have been found, now we are looking for the owners. Last Monday Jerry, Bev, and Jamie Zins received a surprise. 17 cows wandered into their yard just north of McKenzie. The problem now, no one wants to claim them.

Zins says they have called the neighbors, the brand inspector, and the Burleigh County sheriff's department and still no owner. You might think that finding the owner would be easy, but these girls are a mixed group.

Some have green, some have yellow, some have blue ear tags and some have no tag at all. Some have more than two brands, some have one brand, and some have no brand at all. One thing is for certain they're hungry and they're thirsty.

Jamie Zins /Has extra cows: "Some of them started breaking into the fence to eat hay and by the time we got done the rest of them were all in and then we had to open the water up because the water was froze and after our cows got done drinking they must have realized where the water was and they were standing there drinking water for twice as long as normal, and obviously eating hay and stuff so they came from a fair distance away."

If you have any information or if you think the cows may be yours please contact Jerry and Bev Zins, the North Dakota Stockmen's Association or the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
