Digging Out From the Blizzard

Shovels and snow blowers on every block.

Snowplows are out in force across town... clearing roads for drivers.

But that's just one part of the clean-up process.

We speak with the men and women digging out from the holiday storm.

(Danny Schall) "With this stuff near the street it's knock that down, chunk it up a little, throw that off, and just keep digging down to concrete or street." A driveway full of snow greets Danny Schall upon his return from Minot this afternoon

(Schall) "Well we were supposed to be back yesterday and no travel advised, and we couldn't get out of our street anyway, drifts, three feet high almost in the streets, so once we had the driveway dug out, there was no way to get out anyway." Today, he is just one of the hundreds of people in Bismarck digging out from the storm..

And shrugging off how the weather may have affected holiday plans...

Jody Malling) "Supposed to go up north but like I say, the weather changed that." (Jon Roloff/Minneapolis) "It did not, I got lucky and got ahead of the schedule and am going to be going after, so got lucky." (Rob Huft) "It really didn't, we were planning on staying in town so, it really didn't affect us" Many roads in town may still slow you down.... That's while Bismarck snowplows continue working to get them all cleared

But on almost every block in Bismarck... you can see people working hard to clean up their driveways and sidewalks..

Something everyone does their own way... after a blizzard

"Luckily I'm used to it, which is great, but for the most part it's just grueling." "Just a shield from the snow so it doesn't come in your face, ( is this hard work?) no it's actually kind of fun." "Fun, it's hard work, but ya know, that's what you get when you live here." "After you've been here your whole life you get used to it, same old stuff." watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
