There are eight Democrats in the Senate who are opposed to quick passage ot Obama's global warming cap and trade bill. Of those eight, two are from major coal states, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
North Dakota is anoter MAJOR coal state. In fact North Dakota’s average electric rates are the 8th lowest in the U.S. About 24,000 jobs in the state are part of the coal mining and power generating industries. People working for the coal industry in North Dakota enjoy some of the state’s highest wages. North Dakota’s economy receives more than $1 billion due to coal, and over $80 million in tax revenue annually.
Why isn't Byron Dorgan out in front of this crowd expressing his objection? The cap and trade legislation will have a HUGE impact on this state.
Dorgan is willing to put party politics ahead of a $1 billion dollar North Dakota industry.
Folks, we cannot whine and complain about Obama's policies without first addressing the fact that we have three representatives in Washington who have long forgotten that they have 650,000 constituents here in North Dakota. It's time for these guys to be sent to the barn and given the whipping they so roghly deserve!!
