Well, I'm not saying I believe in ghosts, but something happened to my daughter and I quite a few years back that scared the heck out of her and me.

My daughter was 17 at the time.  She and I were the only ones home.  My husband worked nights.  It was about 2:00am and I was sound asleep.  All of a sudden my daughter screamed ( like I've never heard before) and she ran into my bedroom, and jumped on the bed almost right on top of me.  She was shaking so hard that the bed literally shook.  She was crying and totally hysterical.  The first thing I did was jump up and push my dresser in front of the bedroom door.  Then as soon as I got her to calm down, I asked her what happened.  She said she was sound asleep, and all of a sudden she woke up and there was a long arm reaching up from the floor at her from the foot of her bed.  It was then she jumped out of bed and ran into my room.  She was never one to have bad dreams.  We had a dog at the time, and the dog never once barked until she ran into my room.  I didn't want to call the police because I didn't know what to tell them.  We sat there in my room for a long time before we finally went out and checked out her room and the rest of the house.  The doors were locked and nothing was out of place.  She slept in my room for the rest of the night (with the dresser up against the door) just for good measure.

Nothing like that ever happened again.  Was it a dream?  I guess we'll never know.  But I know I will never forget it.  I don't think she will either.

The scariest ghost story in North Dakota I have heard is the Ghost of the Harvey Library, where the librarian had been found murderd in the early 1900s.  The author of the book Ghost Storys of North Dakota visited the library and stayed through the witching hour, when he asked outloud if there was the ghost of this person in the Library to give him some sort of sign.

He admits this was the scariest experience he had encountered of all the ghost storys he had investigated so far.  At the time of asking for a sign he felt a touch of a hand upon his knee that felt cold. His leg stayed cold for 2 weeks after the incident and says he will not go back inside.   

Well I wasn't going to mention this because you would probably think it weird, but I love to scare kids.  I tell them in my former life i was a dog but my master took me out and shot me, infact  you can still feel the bullit hole in my shoulder and tell them to touch there, when they stick their finger to my shoulder I let out a   GRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr.
