To think this was a ship commissioned in before the attacks of 9/11. It is really special that they were able to incorporate the steel. That is an awe inspiring vessel to say the least.

Seven tons of WTC metal I think they said? They had it shipped off to some metal processor in another state to be melted down. This was after testing to determine if it was still strong enough to use. I think they said it's used in the hull of the ship? I wonder how much the entire ships weighs. I bet the WTC metal is a teeny part of the structure.

marilyn sounds like you watched fox and friends yesterday? the man who piloted it into NY...he had a brother that was one of the first firefighters to arrive at the WTC. I was in tears listening to him. He spoke about having the privilege of bringing the ship "home'... The did say 7 tons of steel, used for the hull...and that it was a great symbol...because the hull is what pushes through.....very very symbolic!!!

Yes I did get to see it on Fox and Friends. I woke up early, couldn't get back to sleep so flicked on the tv...just in time! Very moving sight...
