| HOORAY FOR THE UK |

Posted On: Nov 4 2009 7:49AM
Cell phone users in the UK serve time if using the phone or texting while driving. It has been proven to slow your reaction time to as much as 35%. Driving drunk is safer. Most European countrys are following Britan's example along with a few states.
Hang up and drive, cause someone's death ,and I support you just hanging up to dry. |

Good for the U.K., usually what happens across the pond, eventually happens here. I too have heard the results from studies based on texting while driving - yep, ban it, also talking while driving too, studies have found that it's not the actual holding of the phone to your hear that is the distraction, it is the conversation itself, AND even after you have ended the call, the conversation dominats your thinking for several minutes after the call ended. So as far as "hands free" cell technology in cars - it's bogus and proven to be no safer than holding the phone to your ear. BAN TEXTING AND TALKING WHILE DRIVING......................

Maybe I am Irrate and old fashioned but I fail to distinguish between a communincation company gone wild in risking your saftey and caused already too many deaths selling you a hand free unit and saying problem solved and the cigarette company that put a filter on its product and said it was safer.
Talking on your phone or texting in a public place can be just as risky for your safety. I dont care where you are, if you are unaware of your surroundings and what is going on around you, you cannot be as safe as you think you are, and might as well be living your life in a dream world, where people just cant live without talking to you at a better time.
I would imagine this would be a poor choice in life and I smell a tax for anyone who uses a telephone or communication devise because ot others poor choises including the company that put them in the publics hands. Its all gunna cost us more.
I also find those that do walk around talking on their phone are sociably rude, When i see someone shopping with a phone to their ear I try to become as much of an obstacle as I can to them. I like the way they think you are in their way.

Just read an article on Yahoo about a woman in London who was attacked by 3 female teenagers wielding a metal rod. She said she didn't hear them approach because SHE WAS BUSY TEXTING! All she knew was all of a sudden she was pushed up against a car. This was her lucky day because just at that moment along comes a stout-looking man on a bike to rescue her. Turns out he's the mayor of London.
This is a lesson. Don't text while out walking, biking, etc.. you're leaving yourself open for a huge hurt. Be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Just going off of memory but I remember a girl walking the track with her Iphone or Ipod, or w/ever you call them things plugged into her ears. I am sure there is or are many accidents due to cell phones than what we know about.
