Hi Fair,

Yes, highest in over 20 years.   Many unemployed in our area, how about yours?

Thanks obama.

Many on these posts are still in denial.

Yes, it is true, this is now Obama's.

However, as we have argued before, the alternative to Obama's plan would have resulted in even higher unemployment in the present time.

That isn't to say we took the right course, but blaming Obama for less-than-it-would-have-been unemployment seems strange.

Obama could fix the unemployment situation in a matter of months if he would drop healthcare and cap and trade.

Amatuer hour in the white house continues and blame bush seems to be the broken record obama is playing.

DFW......please back up your first statements.
Posted On: Nov 6 2009 11:56AM

I am surrounded by business people and talk to them on a daily basis - I know what is going on.   If you look back at the clinton years as soon as health care was killed - unemployment went down and business picked up.

I am not saying it would go down to 5-6 %  but it would definately help the situation we are in now.

Posted On: Nov 6 2009 11:59AM

WW, you are a money man.  You have to see that Obama could help the economy immediately IF HE SO WISHED.

You have to see that,  DFW is so right.

Lower our taxes, give us real hope.    Drop the TRILLION dollar OBAMACARE (that most don't want or need), give us hope.

Drill baby drill,   Give us hope and new jobs.

Obama could do it if he wanted.  His choice to keep us under his thumb.

Correlation does not mean causation.

Perhaps there are other reasons, relevant causes, for the economic boom of the 1990s than the dropping of Hilarycare.

I don't have a problem with dropping Cap and Trade.  And I do understand the positive effects it could have emploment.

However, this is ON-TOP-OF the what Obama has done. I want to know how this would have worked INSTEAD of what Obama has done.

Clarification of my last post:

Hypothetical:

  • Person A proposes 10 things to fix a situation.......8 good and 2 bad.

  • Person B proposes the opposite.......2 bad and 8 good.

The first question is if the 2 outweigh the 8.

The second question is if the 2 are so signficant that it makes the 10 proposals (in total) by Person A ineffective.

Not Hillarycare.... ObamaCare.

Obamacare, as named, was not around in the 1990s.

You got me there WW.

Well I think these guys think letting everything fail would work. Not realizing that literally meant everything and probably would have been worse the the Great Depression. However that is short term. They believe we would have been better in the long term jetsoning all the bad debt, and getting rid of those who caused this mess. I think they are right to a point, but they are missing the complete world wide collapse that would happen. The war and land grabs by countries, ect... However I am scared that we haven't learned from our risky behavior and counter productive legislation. Sure unemployment is 10.2% but real unemployment is over 17%. Our dollar is losing value gold is pushing through the roof and we are planning more spending and taxes? Are you kidding me? The CBO said healthcare was going to cost 1.2 trillion over ten years. When was the last time the gov't accurately came up with a cost estimate? The answer is NEVER. All that said we needed to spend that money but alot of waste went into it. Why don't we have a new electric grid, that is not only high tech, efficient, but also not vulnerable EMP anymore. Why not fix our water systems, road systems, hell the why can't we get new computers in the Air Traffic Control towers. A recent audit show 60% of all FAA and Military Air Traffic Control towers in the US had computers so old there are no replacement parts for them. Doesn't that sound scary? How bout the fact that many towers had leaking ceilings and fogging windows under normal weather let alone in high humidity weather. Why can't we get new power plants, whether solar, wind, nuclear, coal, etc. Sure we can cut the F-22 to less that a 1/8th of what the Air Force needs to replace it's 1,000+ air superiority fighters. We can tell the military you can use a subpar M-4 because we don't want to spend money to upgrade to a better weapon system. We could have housed the poor and homeless in homes. Here is the really funny part. According to Edmunds every car that was bought during cash for clunkers cost 24,000 dollars. Thats right it cost 24,000 to send 4,000 dollar rebates. C'mon there has to be a better and cheaper way to do business.

Wow I just about wrote a book!

Sick~o. And that is why I wrote (in bold) that perhaps we didn't take the right course.

Personally, I think we did.  But I certainly understand those who would argue otherwise.
