It was a day of recognition for the men and women who serve our country on a daily-basis.

Military appreciation day provides armed service members and their families with a free   

picnic lunch and several fair discounts throughout their visit.

Today was 2-for-1 day and military appreciation day here at the fairgrounds.

It was also the day that a new event debuted - the Diaper Derby.


Infants age 18 months and younger showed off their speed and agility during this first-time competition.

In North Dakota, wind, hail, and perhaps a few tornadoes damaged cars, homes, and farm buildings last night.

Near Balfour - along Highway 52 between Velva and Harvey - storms did quite a bit of damage.
