Hello everyone and how are you? I am good, just got done with the soup kitchen! It is funny how many people are coming to North Dakota/Minot thinking they will find a great job with an oil company, and can’t find a place to sleep. There are many that come to soup kitchen because they have not found a job yet and are running out of money. Every week I think to myself, I can’t do the soup kitchen anymore because of the pain I am in. Then someone touches me and I tell myself this is where God needs me. There is a pregnant girl who is a mess, and needs everything. There is so much anyone can do for her, no one wants to give her money because she is on drugs, I hope the baby is born in a warm place. What can anyone do, even the pastor of the church doesn’t know. There is only so much he can do, she doesn’t help herself. Shoppe what do you think? There is a nurse at our soup kitchen that takes blood pressure, and she checks on her. Her hands are tied also.

Shoppe I am so sorry to hear about your aunt, she had a full life. Ninety five is like the normal year now that Americans are dying, do you know what her secret was. My father is eighty one he believes in dancing, every day he dances by himself or goes out with one of many girlfriends. There was always dancing in my house growing up. I even did the same thing with my kids, every Saturday we would dance. Mostly not on purpose, I always play dance music. The kids used to love the Thriller dance, even as they got older, when they come home I will blast the stereo to a really loud and dance. I will dance and all the kids will come out of there rooms and watch me make a fool of myself, and dance. I love to also dance to “Fiddler on the Roof”, I sing it loud and dance, “IF I were a rich man, fiddle didle dum, all day long” here watch the video. Picture me shaking my boobies. Now everyone watch the entire thing, you will smile I guarantee it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo6BvfaOu5c&feature=related

That was fun, I hope someone smiled.

I love that dance most of all.

I know I should have followed my dreams and gone to bradway like my mom was, it just was not for me. I do have a good voice, oh there I go talking about me again.

Shoppe, I know you most likely don’t ever want to take any kind of sleeping pills, but maybe you should talk to your doctor about not sleeping well. You need to sleep, it will make a better you. I wake up with every tiny sound if I don’t take sleeping pills. I hope the storm is not bad for your sons. I am prying for everyone in the path of the storm. My father has had his house on Long Island all boarded up. It will be a stinky labor day weekend!

Ko I am sorry your car is in bad shape, I will keep my eye out for ya for a car. How are your kids?

Curly, how is your husband dealing with his pain, I think about him and you every single day. I also have daily pain, it is a bad thing to live with.

Thanks for that butt caption photo, I always think of great ones when I am out walking, I need to carry a pen and paper. I like those caption photos.

Bill I am fine, I just get too caught up in these forums, and take it too personal, that is my problem.

Grant, still waiting for that coffee date with Curly!

Taxi, I am still trying to catch up with you.

Oh Sick-O you are such a nice guy, how is school going? I think we should all send five dollars to You to help you with school. I’ll be the first.

I haven’t got much more that dance drained me, but it was fun. I love all youz guize.

Here this is for Shoppe

You know what?  I am going to have him try that.  He is breathing fine now.  Might do the trick.  I wish I had some of the steroids the doc in Minneapolis put him on for a week.  He was great and so much better that week but I know they are not so good for you but.....a person can dream....

Besides he might grow hulk muscles then and become a super hero!!  :o)

Thanks Tax

Curly, you really do deserve a break.  You and YOUR family.  Gosh.  I would be so upset over the loss of my purse and all my stuff.  Wouldn't it be great if the stuff showed up at a pawn shop?  Would an ace wrap help with your hubby's soft tissue injury?  Can he take deep breaths now?  Maybe an ace wrap would be enough to reduce the constant torment.  Reply...

Posted by Curly on Sep 2 2010 10:52AM In the Article: Care II

Well, where to begin.  Has been a very event filled time for me.  First, my husband is still having issues.  He has a ddep tissue injury on the side of the broken ribs.  We think it came from struggling to get up and down from the couch in a laying down position.  (not sure though)  Ribs are healing but it seems each day he has a new ouch someplace.  sometimes I just have to tune out.  It is hard to live with someone who never feels well.  But, onward we march.

We drove to FArgo to see son and his family.  I don't usually drive much cause my hubby is a terrible back seat driver.  Because of his meds he is not driving right now so I did drive but we arrived with me sort of upset with the "instructions" I received the entire way.  Was fun to see the kids for sure.  Little 3 yr old is such a great little boy.  He is so good but fun at the same time.  He is so compassionate to Grandpa cause he has ouches.  It is funny to watch him be a little nurse.  Giving his medicine kisses to make it better.  Too cute!  The girls are good too.  One is 14 and one is 9.  Just started school.  Our son is having a bit of a struggle getting into the swing of work.  He sure hated to have to go in on Tuesday morning but the day does arrive where you have to make a living so there he is.  He is taking a position out in North Carolina.  they are  not moving till Christmas or maybe spring so...we will see how he likes the job first.

While we were there someone threw a brick through the window of the Yokon and stole our daughter in laws purse.  She never usually leaves it in the car but just forgot to go out and get it the night before.  About $1600. damage to the car and loss of an IPOD and gift cards and cash.  That is not replacable from insurance so she is just out the money I guess.  With the deductable, it is a loss they did not need for sure.  We decided it is young boys because the purse itself was one she got from our son for Christmas.  It was a nice coach bag and worth some money on ebay.  Oh well, done is done.

This morning we got a call from my step sister.  My step dad has been ill for about 3 weeks and I have made several trips to see him thinking it was his last breaths but he always rallied and was better again.  Well, last night about 1:00 he passed away.  I will miss him so much.  He was a delight of a man.  He had the most Godly outlook on life.  He outlived 3 wives, of which my Mother was the last.  He was 85.  Funeral is on Monday in Harvey ND.  I am looking forward to seeing all my step family who really are not steps.  I love them like birth family.  None of them live close except for one in Bismarck.  Dear wonderful folks.

Well, got a ton of stuff to do so better scury along.  Shoppe sad to hear you lost your Aunt.  Have been watching the storm over in NC as my daughter in law is wondering if that will be something they will need to worry about if they move.  I hope you boys will be ok.

Later to you all,

Curly

I am sorry to hear about your aunt Shoppe but she lived a full life :)  Hope the boys are ok!

So I am looking for a car... I went thru a lil too deep of water n killed the engine. Its dried out but it will only go 25 mph before the engine starts coughing up a catalytic converter. I needed a new one anyway.. something a lil smaller, good on gas and reliable. My husband is headed to school in a week n half so I can use his car to go back n forth. He will be home on the weekends. When he does work we take him to work then I drive to work.. its about an hr n 10 min trip in the morning n then at nite. Least we have to do this just one more day. I wouldnt be able to do it every day!!

Not much else going on here. I like it that way! Too tired to get caught up in anything else ;)

Taxi... thanks bundles for asking... Yes, that was a funny but noisey weekend....  It only disturbed me.... Hubby,  daughter and her two precious ones went right to sleep....its only  shoppegirl that can't sleep with any noise..... don't know why I didn't put my ear plugs in..... Whats wrong with me?   LOL

Dearest Aunt Mary just passed away noon yesterday (on my daughters birthday)... 95 yrs young,  much loved,  10 kids,  7 brothers and sisters of which my mom at 80 is the second oldest to mary....

Mary laughted a  lot, not a cackle but a solid belly laugh.. We all just thought she was the best.  Never a unkind word,  never gossiped, went to church weekly, loved flowers and dogs.....    Terrific woman.

She said last week while in the hospital bed surrounded by at least 5 of her kids that if she left "here" she would be with Jesus..

So,  Aunt Mary is doing just fine today.... its the survivors that are mourning..

One sister and I are going to WVA for the night , and the funeral......

Curly and Shoppe,

We haven't had any updates on your family members.

Curly, is you hubby feeling better?  Has the pain subsided?  How are you doing?

Shoppe, I guess Mike is recovering?  And your aunt out of the hospital?  We were at Indian Hills Resort, which is camp ground nestled in the hills.  Quiet hours are from 10pm until 7 am.  I was thinking about you and your noisy camping neighbors!!!

Posted by Rugby Reader on Aug 27 2010 10:48PM In the Article: Have you tried our counter-spin strategy?

Pres. Obama to Deliver Historic Speech on Iraq War (and you can join us for it!)

Thank you to so many of you who have engaged with us this month to make visible the cost of the Iraq War and to reveal the truth about the Iraq withdrawal. Please join us for our final push as we prepare to respond to President Obama's upcoming national address on the Iraq War this Tuesday, August 31st, when all eyes will once again be on Iraq. We can't miss this moment! If you haven't already, sign our petition: http://bit.ly/9V3xfZ

We've been working hard to counter the positive spin that the White House and the media are trying to put on the Iraq withdrawal. Since we launched our campaign a few weeks ago, we've been able to help change the national conversation about Iraq. We were the first to call the so-called withdrawal and simultaneous expansion of US military forces in Iraq an Orwellian endeavor at best and an outright lie at worst. From NPR to Salon to Democracy Now!, many media outlets and journalists have echoed our words in the last few weeks. The Washington Post just featured Five myths about the Iraq troop withdrawal (http://bit.ly/9Y25w0).

This week, you can join fellow peace activists and activistas for teach-ins, vigils, marches, film screenings, and more by checking out our Action Calendar (http://bit.ly/aud8YK). Reach out to friends to join you to watch the Obama speech together and join with us on Twitter for a #pinkparty @codepinkalert where we'll be tweeting live during the speech. With your help we can counter the White House spin on the Iraq War! Join us at http://twitter.com/codepinkalert

We will push our online ad campaign calling out war criminals and the cost of the war on the day of the President's speech, when Iraq will be all over the news. Please donate $10 to help make more of these ads happen: http://bit.ly/c38vCz

During our final week of action around the Iraq debacle, we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to take action and speak out about the cost of the war.

- Sign our Iraq Debacle petition to President Obama and Congress: http://bit.ly/9V3xfZ

- Join CODEPINK members and allies from peace groups across the country for events this week or organize your own: http://bit.ly/aD4LWT

- Host a viewing gathering to watch President Obama's Iraq War address on Aug. 31st at 8 pm EST.

See you on August 31st!

Yay Care II is alive again besides just me n curly lol. Things have been going alright. Lets see.. we are all moved in. I am still debating on where to put all my pictures and stuff and I still have to get some more toy boxes for rugrat and he needs a bigger bed.  That boy is tall as my 7 year old when she left last November.

Mom had a great vacation with the kids. She didnt want to come back. The kids got even bigger.  School started this week for them. They are both excited. B is in the Junior High school now and he likes it that he gets to go to different floors.  C loves being in 2nd grade.  They go to the same school they went to before but they have all different kids in their classes.  K didnt get to go to preschool. both schools were all filled up and I didnt think it would be fair for him to be in the car for 20 mins in the morning...then take a bus to go another 20 miles to school go for a few hours and then hop back on the bus, and then get in the car to go home. And when winter hits.... they dont run the buses very often. so its just better he stays in daycare til he can get in to pre K.  He did like the other daycare in Underwood though.

Um.. oh and if you didnt see the FB post.. rugrat went to driving school one day.  He was playin in the van and he hit the shifter into reverse (we were at my aunts "homestead in the country") and it rolled down her driveway down another hill and over a huge tree that was higher then my van n about 1 n 1/2 x as wide. He was ok and when i finally got to get into the van... he was just giggling n giggling.. he said.. MOM? I said WHAT? he said.. Maybe.. I should have went forwards???

I will post more later.. its break time.

You better buy a house soon Sick-O, they are going up and up with the oil here now. In Minot a house puts a sign up for sale one day, Sold sign the next day. Sick- o have you talked to anyone about how to buy a house, make the sellers pay for all the closing costs and all the fees involved. Never buy from the real estate company listed in front of the house, they are the ones who are out to make the most off you. Go to a smaller real estate company or ask your friends if they know any good one. Any real estate person can sell you that house. Good luck in college, those girls grow up fast, before you know it one will come home things pierced, that you don’t want to see.

Shoppe it is good to see you every day, how do you keep up with your house, I am doing a cleanse of everything. I am throwing away all kinds of stuff.

Sorry, I couldn't really enjoy the butt shot, the hair was too distracting!

You know there are some studies about just leaving the appendix in now, and treating the symptoms as they arise? I could look up the article, but it doesn't much matter (and may have only applied to kids).

Anyways, the girls go back to school tomorrow. It is going to be so quiet around the house. I won't have little helpers anymore either :(. I have a light school load this year, only 4 classes, two of which are software classes. The other one is a grammar class. (I still struggle with grammar and makes me soo mad). The other class is at night at BSC and it is called Russia, Myths and Reality. That class interests me the most.

Almost closed on a house on Sunday, but after some thought. I backed off, I think the housing market will continue to decline for awhile so I think I will wait for prices to drop more.

Hello everyone, how are you? I am okay!! I am still having problems with this thing that is growing in my head. Sometimes I just wish when I go to sleep, that I don’t wake up, but that is enough about that. Don’t worry I am not trying to kill myself or anything it is just the pain. I have been okay otherwise. My baby went off to college without me, so that is a bummer. The empty nest is a real drag, what am I going to do with out PTA meetings, Swimmers parent meetings, Honor society parents meeting, swim meets. Basketball games, track meets, worrying about if he has enough lunch money in an account. I know what I want to do, I want to travel (without my husband). I have spoke about it before, my husband and myself have always kept our finances separate. I get my military retirement he gets his! I have the bills I pay, he has the bills he pays. He want something he buys it, I want something I buy it, if I want something expensive, he buys that for me, for keeping the house together. I want to Ireland for a year or so and live with my cousin, and have a nice life, then I want to travel. So do I really divorce him like I always said was going to happen, or what. My personal dilemma, yes I said dilemma, that’s Brooklyn taking. I would love to drive to North Carolina and buy Shoppe lunch, go to Maine and see Care, and not have to worry about anything. I can’t even say my friends are keeping me here, because I really don’t have any, I don’t like the people at my husbands church. He is now a Deacon, and will be a priest next year, I don’t agree with the religion. I need to feel that light that I have lost. Oh well!!

Shoppe I have to say, being the daughter of a Jew I have never been camping in my life. My Idea of camping in motel 6. I don’t even think I would do that anymore with all this bed bug crap happening. I will have to make my camping the Holiday Inn. However in the Air Force I slept in a trench for two days, and ate bugs or whatever else was around that we could catch. I never had to rough it any where else in the Air Force. Even during Desert Storm high ranking females stayed at a Hotel with a pool, in Oman. We were there for base support, not anything else.

Shoppe I am glad your son is okay. I worried about him having a heart attack when you started taking about it. Sometimes back pain is a preempt to a heart attack.!

Curly, I so much know what your husband is going through, pain is such a bummer ever day. How is your son doing, sorry I never got anything off to him in Kosovo. It has been bad for me the past nine months. I know you love being a grand mother, for myself, I don’t see it anytime soon. My two oldest sons

I believe will never propagate, unless they find the ultra nerd girls. My daughter, I pray she never propagates with her current boyfriend for the past four years, after marriage of coarse. Some men should never have children. That is a whole deferent story. My baby who just left me for college, has his mind on the grand prize, a pilot in the Air Force, he even hopes to apply for the space program. Curly I don’t have a car, I gave my Escape to my son for college and I am not suppose to drive anyway. I hope someday we can get together.

SiKo, I hope you are never in a fire and I miss you so much. I don’t even turn my Yahoo on anymore I can’t see what it says. I hope all is well with the kids.

Sick-O, yes raising black walnut trees could bring a fortune, but it may take fifty years for them to worth any money. Did you look into that toutor.com! My son makes so much money with that, I wish I was really smart.

My mother died 4 years ago today, my father called me to remind me of it, I was like “Dad you have six girlfriends, how sad can you be?” They are after him for his bucks, my sister does background checks on all of them, she is a real sick-o, my sister. God forbid, she doesn’t get the money she thinks she will he get when he leaves this planet. I really mean that he is having his remains shot into space, he already paid for it. My mom had a real Catholic funeral, $14,000.00 for allot of stuff and a fancy casket. She is in a mausoleum in New York with all her ancestors, there is even space for 10 more, but not me. It is huge, big stained glass door, statues of saints inside it, and of course a cross from Ireland. It was built in 1820 and is still in great shape. It is in Manhattan, one of the cemeteries on the island.

I dont know if thisa all will be posted. I still love all youz guize,

Theresa

Besides the Quran

The Torah

Old Testament

Bhagavad Gita

They all come to mind, and it is important to point out that there are passages in the Quran that teach tolerance. Infact early on this was how Islam was conducted. A good example is look how the muslims treated christians during the crusades. Futhermore even now you find examples, did you know that there are christians and jews in Iran and Iraq?

yes,  sicko.... several hundred years ago.   We as Christians are now much better than some of the things that were done in the name of Christ... it was wrong....

Now,  the muslims need also to change the way they read the Koran... So many say they come from and believe in the same God... well.................act like it!

I do believe that if the koran is taught faithfully in the mosques,  then yes, its taught to hate and kill.   Not exactly a book of love and peace.

What other religious group teach these things that the Koran teaches  sicko?   I need to know.... give me a list please......................................

I am talking now,  in 2010... what other holy book teaches to kill your enemies and force your religion on them...  I can't think of any.

Morning ladies...

Charity is a big tenet of Islam, is that a bad thing? No it isn't so your constant exclamation of all bad things taught in mosques are evil, is flat wrong.

Tax, I don't really believe you can't follow.

Nuns and Monks live under Canon law, but are only actually subject to local law. Is this wrong as well, I mean the Catholic Church has committed lots of travesties.

I can pull up all the ugly old testament  verses, that are still taught as history and tradition, inside the christian churches. The Torah and Old Testaments, like the Quran, not only are religoius books, but a law books as well. Should Christians and Jews not study the old texts? I think your problem in understanding this is the seperation between studying and teaching about it, and actually implementing it. Which are to totally different things.

Thats why I think the   mosques seem innocent in America, but what is being taught?   I know whats being taught, and it all bad...

Hello all,

Shoppe it seems like when it rains it pours.  Not just your aunt, friend and now your son.  I am hoping it all turns out well for them all.  I do understand how hard it can be sometimes.   We have been having a bit of trouble around here too.  My step dad is not doing well.  He is 85 and seems to be failing badly.  I have driven over to Harvey several times cause we thought the end was at hand.  He is such a dear christian man and has lived a very Godly life, so I wish for him that he can move on to lifes reward for those that beleive.  On a lighter note, his daughters laugh and say the reason he fights so hard to live here on this earth is that he has three former sives in heaven waiting for him.  :o)  He has out lived all three and had three solid marriages.  What a testimony he is leaving for us all.

My husband is still having pain but less then before.  I am not sure but I think he is in a deep depression.  I hope something will help soon.   I know some of the meds he is on make him sleep a great deal and I think he needs to back off of lots of them.  He is not on much pain meds now so that is good.   Today is a new day and I sure hope he will be more upbeat today.   Yesterday I made him go with me as I went and ran errands.  He was very tired when we got home and hugely GOUCHY!

I usually go to the YMCA for my aquacise class but the pool is closed for two weeks so today, I am going to walk over to the famers market for some fresh tomatoes for my excercise.  Nice and cool out so that should be good.

Hope you are all well,  and yes, where is Theresa.  I hope you are feeling better and reading this.  I could use a Walmart fix to give us all a smile.

Later folks!

All of this was performed by the infilling of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost came in and cleansed their hearts of all the sin.

The following were all performed at the same time.

1)    Conversion - Acts15:4

2)    Baptism of the Holy Ghost - Acts11:16

3)    Remission of Sin - Acts 10:43

4)    Belief – Acts 15:7

5)    Cleansing – Acts 10:15

6)    Purifying their hearts – Acts 15:9

7)    Speaking in tongues as evidence – Acts 10:46

8)    Salvation by Grace – Acts 15:11

9)    Possessed the Witness of the Holy Ghost

The notion that a person can be saved according to the dictates of his or her own feelings or emotions is very dangerous. Especially given that Jesus warned us repeatedly about false teacher leading people into error.

If YOU are going to err, I suggest you err on the side of caution and make sure that you do in fact have the Holy Ghost dwelling inside of you.

God Bless

Anyhow lets continue….

Act 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. Act 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, Act 10:18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. Act 10:19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. Act 10:20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. Act 10:21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? Act 10:22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. Note: He is a Just man. Act 10:23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. Act 10:24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends. Act 10:25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. Act 10:26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. Act 10:27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. Act 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Act 10:29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? Act 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, Act 10:31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. Act 10:32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Act 10:33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. This is so important: Here we see that one can be “accepted with him” but still not saved! Act 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) Act 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. This also is important: Here we see before Jesus was “anointed” he was called “Jesus of Nazareth” but after he was anointed he was called Jesus Christ or Jesus Anointed! Act 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Act 10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly; Act 10:41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. Act 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. Act 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Note here, now we get to the business end. Belief in Jesus as the Christ or the Messiah is a precondition to being “Granted Repentance” or Receiving “Remission of Sins”.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Did you notice that from verse 1 through verse 48 that there isn’t any indication of belief on the part of the Gentiles except to say that the Holy Ghost fell on them and Peter concluded from this that they were now ready for Baptism and commanded to be baptized.

If we are going to be good stewards of God’s kingdom we must make sure that those to whom we preach are NOT told they are saved until we have given them “All the Council of God!.

We then read on in chapter 11… Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Act 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? Act 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Further clarification is found in Chapter 15…. 1) How are we different today? 2) How do we know when we receive a “New Heart? 3) What is the process that we undergo in order to get a new heart? After all Cornelius was a “Just Man!” Act 10:1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, Act 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. Then these verses seem to contradict this assumption… Act 11:13 And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Notice that Peter had only just began to speak. This also is important for those who proclaim that salvation is a function of learning or finding some outward religious intellectual position. Ponder this: They came to be told “words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved”. And then in the next breath we read “As I BEGAN to speak” the Holy Ghost fell on them”. What I am saying is this. The point of salvation (or being saved) is concurrent with The Baptism of the Holy Ghost and nothing had changed in the interim. This is a good time to revisit the events as they were accounted in Acts 10. I will look at a few interesting points. Act 10:1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, Act 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. Act 10:3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. Act 10:4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. Act 10:5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: Act 10:6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. Act 10:7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; Act 10:8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. Act 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: Act 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, Act 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Act 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. Act 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. Act 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. Act 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 1) The words: Common – Unclean – Unsaved are synonymous 2) This state of being Common – Unclean – Unsaved is repaired or reversed by the cleansing power of the Holy Ghost upon the APPLICATION of the blood of Christ. Similar to the APPLICATION of the blood in the Exodus story. Reply...

THE CONVERSION OF THE GENTILES.

Normally I would start with Chapter 10. This time I would first like to draw your attention to a few accounts of the same event. (My comments in Blue)

Act 11:1  And the apostles and brethren that were in

Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. Act 11:2  And when Peter was come up to

Jerusalem , they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
Act 11:3  Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. Act 11:4  But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, Act 11:5  I was in the city of

Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: A
ct 11:6  Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Act 11:7  And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

Act 11:8  But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. Act 11:9  But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Act 11:10  And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

Act 11:11  And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from

Caesarea unto me.

Act 11:12  And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

This passage is import for those who proclaim that salvation is at the point of belief and NOT at the time of the infilling or baptism in the Holy Ghost.

If Cornelius was saved upon belief we must find an indication of this in the text, failing this if Belief and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost are at the same time we must ask:

Hi Shopp: I would like to put forward a perspective on what "SAVED" means scripturally. Around the turn of the 20th century the terms:

1)  Saved

2) Born Again

3) Baptised in the Holy Ghost

4) Salvation

All had somewhat of a facelift. What I mean by that is that churches globally applied these terms in a variety of ways to their members.

e.g. Some would say that salvation was a result of adherance to church dogma, others would say that salvation was a result of the new convert saying the "Sinners Prayer" etc etc.

I would like to draw your attention to the Bible definition of these terms and demonstrate that they all (1-4) speak of the same experience. The story that helps us (God placed in the Bible for us to understand the points of reference) is the story of Cornelius and the Conversion of the Gentiles.

Please read carefully and understand the words for they are very important and in conflict with teaching today that salvation is at some stage prior to the receiving of the Holy Ghost.

What seperates us from other countries is our reverance for the constitution.

You are right, no other country in the world has our constitution.

But, without virtue or morals, our Constitution is meaningless,

So what about the congregations that are turning people over? You lost me , please explain.

don't know how it doesn't make sense to you. Think of it as the dogma or history of the religion? Make sense? Kinda like the old testament.I must be reading something completely different from what you are saying, because it does not make sense.

I will support ,for example, a person's right to smoke, even tho I personally hate the smell, the yellow stains, the dirty ashtrays, and everything that goes with it.   It is legal.  Why would anyone preach or believe in virgin sacrifies if they did not believe in performing them.  Now, from a historical perspective one could teach of their existence, but not support it.  Maybe, I just can't get beyond the sanctity of life and the dignity with which one should treat another human being.  Or I am way off the mark, and you will have to try another approach

If we don't preserve this country, all bets are off. I am pretty sure even then (except in maybe in small areas of the country) you won't have sharia. I would be more willing to be that we would have some sort of christian facist dictator, or chrisitan theocracy over most of the country. Now that isn't and indictment on Christanity, but it is indictment of people who will use religion and prevert to gain power.

If we treat the constitution as we should, and follow it, we won't have a problem. With islmofacism, debt, and other problems that will arise. What seperates us from other countries is our reverance for the constitution.

Like I used before as an example. You can believe in virgin volcano sacrifices, you can even preach, if you want. You may not tho actually perform a virgin sacrifice, as that would be murder

Sick~O, why would anyone preach that if they didn't believe in the actual practice?  That statement makes no sense.

And as long as the United States of America is still intact we will never have an islamic caliphate inside our boarders.

That is a unnerving and terrifying- as long as we are intact.  And if we are no longer intact?  Then what?

When I see the moderate muslims actually physically arrest, remove, denounce, and boycott anyone who actively preaches and practices sharia, and other violent terroist beliefs, I find them guilty by association just as the driver of the get away car is as quilty as the bank robber.

But, Sick~O, you are right, our priority is to save this country on all levels for the all generations living now and in the future.

Ps.. forgot to say.... Saturday night, we are all in the tent getting ready to sleep..  we get a phone call.   My son Mike, 25, was rushed to hospital in wilmington nc... he had had a back ache 2 days before and left work early... then all the next day  it kept getting worse, no relief.... So he called my other son in wilmington (the one married last oct)  and talked to him about it,  Jason insisted he let him take him to emergency room.... After many tests including a cat scan, the dr. deteremined it was appendix, and said it will only get worse, so they did immediate surgury.   He came thru great.

But as a parent, it was difficult being  8 hrs away and not being there... so all we could do was pray for 2 hrs and wait for a phone call.....

He is now back home, well, and on heavy meds.  So heavy they won't let him work till Sept 2.....

nice site to pitch a tent.   obviously too close to neighbors.   They kept us me awake till 1 a.m  Saturday night.  I coulda punched their lights out!   I enjoy my sleep... I gave them the ole evil eye next morning,  if looks could kill, they would be dead!

Had a great reunion, weather was terrific (thank sicko)...

Small turnout at the reunion because the Matriarch of the family, my aunt mary 93, was in the hospital.   We all gave her a short visit since there were so many of us... She looked well, but today had some problems.... then I find out my dearest friend has been going thru chemo with breast cancer... pray for Debbie B. please...    Then one of my first cousins just had her foot removed, she is a beautiful youngish lady.... Diabetes.   I didn't know it ran in the family, so I best watch it now.

So I should be glad to be alive and whole, but I am still somewhat depressed and not sure why....

Anyway,   so glad to be back chatting with all of you.

Just because I support a persons right to religion does not mean I support all or any of it's aspects. I also flatley stated that they have no right to impose their religion on you.

So let me clear this up one last time....You have a right to believe and practice whatever religion you want. As long as while you are practicing you do not infringe on anyone else's rights.

Below is a copy of a text from Sick~O's post.  I take that as supporting sharia.

If a business decides to be pro-sharia good for them, if a person decides to live their lives in accordance with sharia good for them. It is their choice to do that, and they have that freedom afforded to them by the constitution.

When the full report is released, if I am wrong, I will state such.

Oh, now Tax, has resorted to lying. I have never supported sharia.

Secondly show me the study, if it is the one with a little more than 100 Mosques, then it is bunk study. The fact is the FBI used 2000 mosques as sample size 20 times that of the other study.

Lets have some facts and not fear mongering.

The FBI article was from nearly a year ago so their study is older than that.  10% of those Mosques represent what percent of the Muslim population?  Why are you supporting sharia? If muslims want to live here, they need to live under our laws, not change them.  If they want to live under their laws they have those laws in their own countries.

The FBI, says that about 1 in 10 (10%) teach extremism... So what is it 80% or 10%, frankly I am going to believe the FBI, they had a larger sample and a clear definition.

Sick~O,  it is this population of which I speak:

A soon-to-be published study funded by Frank Gaffney's Center for Security Policy, found that 20% of the mosques in the United States have no taint of Sharia and simply promote peaceful worship. But 80% are filled with violent literature, Sharia teachings,

There is more discussion about muslims comparing Sharia with Christian beliefs.  Till they come out and deny that,  I have no time for them.

Freedom of religion has to go both ways.  America has that in their  Constitution.  Those who come to live here must also subscribe to that belief.

Shoppe that would kindof defeat the purpose of their bias nature.  They know that if they expose it, they won't be able to persuade anyone.

ps.   I have to say on thing......

I was saved 20 yrs before I spoke in tongues (which I do only rarely in private)... I feel If I had died before I did speak in tongues , I would have went to heaven.  I just feel the same Spirit that helps a person speak in tongues was already in my the moment I got saved.

1Co 12:19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 1Co 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 1Co 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 1Co 12:22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 1Co 12:23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 1Co 12:24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: 1Co 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 1Co 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. 1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

When read in context all the members encourage one another and there is NO SCHISM. It is a wonderful experience to see God work amongst his people. Jesus said "I have many things to say to you but you cannot bear them yet" Interpretation and Prophecy have saved marriages, prevented backsliding, saved lives, converted believers and unlocked mysteries before our eyes.

1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Not all will have manifestations of all gifts "IN THE CHURCH" But this cannot be a foundation of the belief that All only get one gift or that we are not fully equipped with the potential for all. Of the 9 gifts; tongues was given other functions they are as follow: 1) Sign following believer, 2) Prayer, 3) Edification of our inner man. False religion is rampant, if ever people needed confirmatory evidence of entry into God's plan and the infilling of the Holy Spirit, it is today. Our motivation needs to be careful, studious, loving leadership in the church, not finding the point of least resistance.

Though it is understandable that in isolation verses 8 to 11 clearly say that one will get this gift and another will get a different gift it is totally wrong to apply these verses to a setting that ignores the fact that this section of scripture is describing how the gifts would be manifested in a church service. The context is "the manifestation of the Spirit" [IN THE MEETING] (sunerchomai Greek). To apply these 9 gifts in the greater "Body of Christ" is stepping away from the grammatical order. To say that these 9 listed gifts represent the entirety of the grace of God is also untrue. There are many more gifts that come with the infilling of the Holy Spirit. God is NOT a RESPECTER of persons. (the separate gifts doctrine is opposite to this statement from God. We are "thoroughly furnished" so as to not "come behind or LACK any gift".

Further and most importantly; to say that one has the "gift of FAITH" and another has "The gift of Miracles" and so on, has created a position of spiritual ladder climbing which is the opposite of the intended purpose of this chapter. Besides that without the gift of FAITH it is impossible to please God. So we all MUST have that Gift.

Miracles are performed by GOD not our special abilities. Further if someone is healed of blindness it is the patient who has the GIFT of healing not the person praying for another.

1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.

Unity of the Body is emphasized. The Context is specifically (dysfunction in the "meeting or assembling together") Verse 12-14 is however true in application to the greater Body of Christ. But the application in this chapter is IN THE CHURCH SERVICE.

1Co 12:15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 1Co 12:16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 1Co 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 1Co 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him

Some of the gifts are only manifested in the meeting. Divers kinds of tongues, interpretation and prophecy. Of course If someone never interprets it does not mean that they don’t have the Holy Spirit. The difference with tongues is that tongues had several purposes not the least of which is a confirmatory sign. Notice that tongues in the meeting is termed “Divers kinds of tongues”. We don’t all manifest these gifts in the meeting but according to the “measure of faith” we will manifest them. The gift is already present within us it is unlocked by OUR FAITH!

Tongues are the easiest gift to manifest during the operation of the spiritual gifts because we all received that manifestation upon belief as seal of the Holy Spirit. (See Acts 2:4 & 10:44)

Notice haw Paul the Apostle draws attention to "dumb idols" Dumb means Idols that “Cannot Speak” This is in stark contrast to God who proved himself on numerous occasions verbally. Earlier in this letter had pointed out to the Corinthians that Christianity is a dynamic miracle working religion when he said.

1Co 2:4 "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (Demonstration of the Spirit) the antithesis of Dumb Idols.

1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. (You cannot call Jesus Lord without the Holy Spirit)

The question arises, Is this ability (the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit) for a select few; or all? The former would lead to resentment perhaps and maybe even a spiritual hierarchy. In many  groups who practice the "grading of gifts" (i.e. Tongues is the least and prophecy or healing are the greatest.) results in a large amount of "non-participant" members. In other words the more extraverted people make all the noise and those who are not confident simply sit and observe. The Bible calls this being "Unequally yoked". This may not seem a big deal to many however the purpose of fellowship is firstly to present the gospel to unbelievers and secondly to exhort and edify existing members. Many in these groups who believe that one gets this gift and another that gift are placed in the position of "spectators" to the show. The Corinthians chapters 11 through 14 model is INCLUSIVE as opposed to EXCLUSIVE. Allowing the weaker to edify the strong and vice versa. This is why I believe this is such an important topic to cover.

1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

We who have received the Holy Spirit are partakers of ONE Spirit. We are born again, our lives are not our own. Jesus lives through us. The concept of each person receiving more or less DEPENDANT on their FAITH is more about SELF GLORY than that of GOD. Anonymity in receipt of the gifts of God, and our use of them bring with them greater rewards in the world to come. That is consistent with Jesus' nature.

1Co 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

Note in verse 6: ALL in ALL!  Meaning: ALL (each and every one of the gifts) in ALL (Each and every Christian) Paul’s letter to the Ephesians helps us to understand this.

Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth All in All.

1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

This is a key verse: Because it opens with "But the manifestation" ("But" included to contrast previous verse) The Christian is "filled" with all the capabilities available.(verse 6) BUT the manifestation ( DURING the OPERATION) of the spiritual gifts is not displayed by all, but is for EVERYONE’S good. (verse 7)

1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

A word to the wise:

Blind leaders of the Blind are fairly easy to recognize. They, for the most part avoid the Bible

The Bible says that God's word gives light, in fact it is the light. If we follow that light we will not stumble or fall.

It is noteworthy that our spirited little name caller barely touched on a scripture at all in his/her dose of verbage.

I will however like to respond by addressing the verse that they did quote.......

The Manifestations of the Holy Ghost in the Church Service

The 12th chapter of Paul's letter to the Corinthians is a widely misapplied text of scripture. In this chapter Paul itemises 9 of the manifestations of the Holy Ghost as they are apparent in the church meeting. What many have done today is to cite various texts from this chapter to say that one person is gifted with this gift (e.g. faith) and another is gifted with that (e.g. miracles). A result of this is that some boast of having gifts of healing, miracles and/or knowledge and have therefore given themselves a promotion over others who they perceive as being less gifted. This was never the desired intention of Paul who wrote the letter, or of God who inspired Paul so to write. The following is a brief summary of this chapter that hopefully will clear up any misunderstandings.

Preface:In chapters 11 through 14 of the letter to the Corinthians there is clear instruction to the early Christian church on how to conduct their meetings. Chapter 11 begins with the statement...1Co 11:1  Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. 1Co 11:2  "Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you." It follows that at the close of his directives concerning church services he states 1Co 14:40”Let all things be done decently and in order." These comments act as bookends to the sole instruction in the Bible concerning structure and format in meeting together for Church services. The Greek word for Meeting Together sunerchomai; appears 8 times in the Bible. All in this epistle. 5 times in chapter 11 and twice in chapter 14 and 1 time in chapter 7. Instruction on how to convene meetings IS NOT FOUND in any other epistle. This means that the context of chapter 12 is when the church is in the state of "Meeting Together". Having established the clear context lets continue.

Note: This chapter is clearly written to the church directing them in the correct way that they are to operate in the ACT of meeting together. In spite if the clear context that governs the reading of these verses church leaders who have many members who do not display many of the above gifts devised a doctine that these verses be applied to churches who ARE NOT IN THE ACT OF MEETING TOGETHER.

This was done to satisfy people who did not want to speak in tongues. This doctrine is a lie and creates huge problems in the following chapters, especially chapter 14 verses 26-40.

1st Corinthians Chapter 12:

1Co 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 1Co 12:2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

Sorry, don't know where or how all that spacing and html garb go there.

To finish to Luke7_35
..........after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, (and lastly) diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do allspeak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE.................
(1 Corinthians 13:1-8) s, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,

Two thousand plus years later, the anonymous, bold speaking Luke authors his own Gospel that literally judges BILLIONS of past, non-tongue speaking Christians to hell. And in truth, all because of the Television. Because without the television giving a new platform to crooked healing and tongue speaking liars, who, in the past were limited to horse drawn, one ring circuses, reaching only a few, this whole idea would be no where. So, in other words, ONLY because we have way to reach everyone, we now declare a new gospel? One that, because the television was not around for the liars of the past, means, pretty much EVERY Christian before 1930 is hell bound. It's an interesting, but ignorant concept Luke. Now I ask you to apologize to the masses of people you've caused heartache, anger and a newly formed BAD opinion of Christianity. Which by the way, it's people like you with your "intellectualized" purposefully confused reading of God's otherwise VERY SIMPLE PLAN FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM, that have literally caused Millions of people to either walk out the door of the church, and or, turn to a false religion. ALL because idiots, refuse to be and do what the same people you quote, insisted was what REALLY determined your eternal home.
So you can parse, pluck and puke out the scriptures to create your tightly woven cliché of a few, but I challenge you to rethink it all, and humbly return with an apology and correction. It's okay Luke, we've all been down this road, thinking and or believing the doctrines of devils, but you cannot deny, the one and only thing that proves for sure you're wrong. NOT EVER did Jesus do or say something to believers that caused such a division as what you are proposing as fact.
You have but ONE scripture, that WE KNOW by other things said throughout the Word, is an incomplete, mere mentioning in passing, list of things a saved person might experience. In ALL the thousands of people that Jesus TOLD were saved, NOT ONCE did He say they needed to do what Luke7_35 insists they do today?
It is astonishingly arrogant for you to insist that to believe what you're saying, we must parse ALL the other scriptures, EXCEPT this one that you rest ALL of what you insist on? Pretty dangerous my friend, I hope you understand how many young people with already bad, confused and disgruntled attitudes about Christianity are being assisted to be more so by your unlearned doctrine. When you can show us all that Jesus, or anyone EVER SAID, "Sorry, you will not make it to heaven UNLESS you speak in tongues" we'll be ready to drink the rest of your kool aid.
Finally Luke, you threw in somewhere in your ranting another edict of men that has clearly been one of the major reasons people depart from the church, and eventually quit believing in God altogether. I've talked to many of these people, it is a fact. It's this idea of Healing. god's still healing, and I've been the undeserving recipient of a healing directly at has Hands. But when you start BLAMING people for not being healed, you just took JUDGMENT into your own hands, AGAIN, as you've done with this tongue talking lie.
You open the doors for all the God hating people to increase the power of their arguments with these arrogant man made theologies. Because it's pretty obvious, if these "healers" exist, then one of two things is true. Either they are ALL LIARS, or God is a terrible god. To which, the latter I CAN ATTEST, He is NOT. Hence, the former are ALL LIARS. Because this ridiculous notion of modern tongue talking evangelicalism, has caused almost everyone to take another look at what is really being said. Basically, it says; God's only willing to "heal" those who can walk through the doors of the disgraceful churches of men on their power. Because we all know, these "great healers" aren't going to their bedsides are they? Uh-uh, they gather in huge auditoriums and await people to come and drop their cash. Christ didn't take up offerings, He handed out food and drink. And if it not be so, then I can assure you, He wouldn't waste a moment of time on those strife filled, backbiting apostate buildings of men. He'd grab His healers and march them down to the local children's cancer treatment center and take care of business. You know, I know, God knows it. Instead, you have to be part of a embittered church cliche' to be a recipient of God's healing? Sorry, I buy that one as much as I buy your incomplete, deceiving man made doctrine of tongues.
Luke, I've been down that road you''re on, right after I was healed from certain death, nearly 8 years ago. I, like you have went from believing and hearing God on the day He saved me/you, to hearing and believing men now that the idea has settled into my/your evil conscious. In your heart of hearts, if you reread the Word, and STOP worrying about whether what you see in it, REALLY lines up with what a preacher or a church constitution says, and let the Word by Its Glorious self, answer these questions, then God will be as real as He was the day you felt Him reach down, clean you out, and fill you up.
You have to admit, since tongue talking, for all intents and purposes, although used discreetly before recent times, is really a "new" edict in the church, which then means, pretty much every Christian up until about 1980 is hell bound? If you think for a nansecond that God let that happen, then you don't know God very well at all. I've even heard preachers say that if you don't believe in the rapture, your going to hell. Pretty stupid statement, since the rapture wasn't even figured out until very recently. Which again means, ALL those people before that recently added gospel of men went to hell? Pretty bizarre God, if you ask me. Basing His greatest gift on "if and when" a man figures something out that's never been taught or practiced before? That ain't the God I'm reading about. Reply...

Mr. Luke, or whoever you are....

Did you know, that NO WHERE in the Bible does it say what you are saying? NO WHERE DOES IT SAY; “To be saved, you must speak in tongues?” The best you can put forth is when Jesus said "signs will follow" and gave “AN INCOMPLETE LIST OF SPIRITUAL SIGNS AND WONDERS. Do you realize what that means? It means anyone including an anonymous Luke7_35 could come along and ADD his or her own “sign or wonder” at any time.

By the Bible and your own words, the list given is incomplete. And, if you’re going to insist we all be so “thorough” on reading the Word of God, please try a little of that your self. The fact is, Paul, later on in Corinthians (after having been visited by the Lord) gave a longer, much more complete list. And even then young man, PAUL DID NOT CONCLUDE WHAT YOU ARE CONCLUDING. In fact, he concluded the EXACT opposite of what you are saying. If you were there then, he would have rebuked you and reminded you of something I find very little of in all your postings. It’s that thing known as charity, for which, a paraphrased Paul would claim, "without charity bucko, you can tongue talk all the way to your grave, but you're still going to hell." He would also “kindly” put his hand on your shoulder and say, “my son, have you never read…..

1Co 12:6-12  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ

To which, Luke7_35 might respond, but, but, but, what about. And Paul would shout over to his friend, (2 Tim 4) “bring with thee the books, but especially the parchments. Luke7_35  the forum hogger is doing these people much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

Then, dear gentle, patient Paul would go on to exhort Luke7_35 to read further. . . .

You're right...everyone knows both sides, and most choose a side. I like to look at both sides of the issue and come to my own conclusions. I see alot of people are easily swayed by others personal opinions and quite often they are inaccurate opinions. I try to research things. I used to believe the emails my friends sent me.. after all, they are smart people and know what they're talking about, right? Turns out they got THOSE emails from people they thought were smart enough to know the difference between truth and urban legend. Wrong. Now I don't take anybody's word/email for complete truth. I learned the hard way. Reply...

I just wish all media, journalists, reporters, etc.. would be completely unbiased, neutral.

I take a different approach.  Bias in media is nothing new. The neutral media you speak of reminds me of the myriad of "golden ages" that each culture claims of its past.....i.e. they never were.

Today, to use an ESPN TV poker analogy: even if the cards are not flipped over......everybody watching from home knows what the player is holding.

And once that happens, is it (bias) even that relevant anymore?

- - -

Also, just a survey of the people who post here indicates that NOBODY is getting their news from just the traditional sources.  Sure you may get info from FOX or CNN, but you also may have saw it first on Drudge or Huffington (both of which I avoid) or you just get a survey of the news from Google (or Yahoo or whatever) or often someone HERE posts something...... and then there are the dozens of radio shows that do influence the masses.

It seems to me that when it comes to a news topic, most everybody here knows both sides of the spin.

- - -

Lastly.....bias is not the same as propaganda.  I don't mind bias (in an effort towards objectivity.) But I don't want my news dictated to me from either the RNC or the DNC.

I think that you, Marilyn, could be conservative and still report as best you could.  After a few hundred stories, I bet I could guess your bias.  But to me, it wouldn't invalidate your reporting.

Big letters to me is yelling!  Grant's joke where he was eventually down to a word or partial word per line, now that was slow reading!!

So, did you write the word "isn't" just to see what reaction you would get?

That should say

The problem lies in that the line is very blurry.  How does a population protect itself when you do not know which one is the enemy.  That is why they get lumped together in one group.  My hubby said it was like that in Nam.  They all looked the same and many times they were all the enemy.  the choice was death or defend against all possible enemy.

I know this is not to that point but how do we keep it from escalating to that degree.

Sick~O,  it is this population of which I speak:

A soon-to-be published study funded by Frank Gaffney's Center for Security Policy, found that 20% of the mosques in the United States have no taint of Sharia and simply promote peaceful worship. But 80% are filled with violent literature, Sharia teachings, and promotion of Jihad and its inevitable concomitant terrorism.

If I were a KKK member, I would admit to it and take part in their ridiculous protests. If I were a conservative muslim, I would hope I would believe in myself enough to publicly stand up against the radicals. I will publicly stand up against the KKK any time, any day of the week. According to what I have been reading, well let me cut and paste one source. Most major banks and financial institutions offer Sharia Compliant Funds which have their investments vetted by the most fundamentalist and reactionary of clerics to assure that they advance Sharia Law. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the founder of the proposed Mosque, helps to prepare a Sharia Index which rates countries on their degree of compliance with Sharia Law. In the United Kingdom, many courts have recognized Sharia as the governing law on matters between two Muslims.

But there are non-Sharia mosques where peaceful and spiritual Muslims worship God in their own way without promoting violence.

Which brings us to the ground zero mosque. There can be no doubt that any mosque organized and run by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf will be based on Sharia Law.

Sunday, July 22 at 3 p.m. ET
Hosted by E.D. Hill

Tune in this weekend, as FOX News Channel presents the documentary the Public Broadcasting System didn't want you to see.

It's a film about the difference between moderate Muslims and the radicals who want to kill us. It asks where are the moderate Muslims and why aren't they speaking out against the jihadists? And it was financed with $675,000 of taxpayers' money.

It was commissioned as part of the PBS series "America at the Crossroads" about the post 9/11 world, but PBS executives rejected it.

PBS claims the filmmakers were "alarmist, overreaching and unfair."

The filmmakers say they were censored because of liberal bias at PBS.

On a topic this important, we think you have the right to decide for yourself.

That is a silly arguement, there are programs and organizations that are fighting extremism here and abroad. Whether or not you wish to acknowledge what is going on or not is your choice, but it doesn' t make it true.

I'm sure their groups are out there.. but I haven't seen any public outcries over the horrific things that the terrorists do. That's my point. Don't just be a member of a club. They need to stand up and be heard and make it plain that they are NO PART of the violence. They also need to condemn the part of the koran that commands them to kill the unbelievers. Well, I tried to get to sleep early but I seem to be wide awake so I got up to dig out Care II.  I like to know what all of you are up to so I think it is good to keep this thread alive.  Besides it is  getting big.  Shucks 91 pages..

Hubby is still having lots of pain, and the pain pills make him  real joy to live with.  NOT!  He is testy and real goofy.  Not himself at all.  He  normally has a great sense of humor but seems to have lost it for now.  He also mutters to himself all the time.  I think it is his thoughts but he is saying them....God help us.  Sometimes they are not so sweet.

Had some folks stop by to see us today.  Sort of distant relatives and it was nice to have some folks to visit with.  They brought us lots of garden produce.  Cucumbers and tomatoes, a huge zuccini and plums from the plum tree they have.  She also brought us some garden lettuce and some homemade strawberry jelly.  I love fresh produce so it is great.

Sorry, life is rather dull here these days so hope you all have some good times to report.  Maybe Theresa will read this and find a good Wal mart picture so I can have a laugh.

Sleep well my friends.  Gonna try again to get to sleep.

Later all!

GRandkids are fun aren't they?  I love being a grandma.  We have a little boy move in down the street from us.  He has no family here and calls us grandma and grandpa.  He has the biggest sky blue eyes I have ever seen.

Monday is our little GAvin's birthday.  He will be 3.  What a sweet little guy.  He said he wants a candle for his birthday to make a wish.  What he really got was a Escalaide.  One of those cars that run on batteries.  His Daddy decided to get it for him, but first he had to gather all his pacifiers and trade them in on it.  He told him that he had to pay for it with all his pacifiers.  He did it.  He took them in a baggy to Toys r us in FArgo and gave them to the lady (plus Daddy's credit card) and he got to take it home.  He has not cared one bit for the pacifiers.  He is hard to get to bed now though.  Was easy before, guess he knew when he got his pacifier it was time to sleep.  Now they need a new signal.

I will look at your facebook pics Shoppe.  Thank you for your kind words.  I am looking forward to the day we can meet.  Son is taking the job in NC it looks like so maybe it will not be long.  He will start but will be a while till the family moves.  It will work out I am sure.

Well, back to my quilt.  I am working on one for our nephews new baby.  He was born July 16th.  He is the forth boy in the family.  They have 4 boys, all under the age of 4.  The oldest two are twins and will be 4 on Oct 19. Now that is a crazy household.

I am also working on another quilt like I made our son.  I am making it for the party the guard is planning for the troops in Bismarck.  It is the welcome home party for troops and families.  I think on facebook I have a picture of the first one and this one is like it.  If I knew how to cut and paste better I would put it over here so you could see it.  It will be a door prize at the party.

Well, later all!

not much is going on here.. took rugrat to his "little" school today.  He wasnt sure what to think of it at first but he made three little friends. Last nite he met a few more kids n rode bike with one of them too.

Well on wednesday we were moving from the place and in the morning my landlord calls n asks if I am cleaning my oven because there is a burning smell. I said no I had cleaned it about two weeks before. So we went to get the tv after I got off work and the smell was still there and from what I hear it was a little stronger.  My husband started to get sick from it and so did my neighbor. She was looking pretty weak so I called the landlord to see if they could send her somewhere else til the smell went away. Well the landlord was not around so I had to relay info to his wife.. she finally found the other landlord and I guess he went up to check on the building.  There was a cigarette that had made a huge flowerpot smolder.. it melted on to the carpet or something.. n almost made it to the wall. If I didnt call when I did my neighbor said.. the apartments would have went up.

I took my hubby to the hospital at about 4:00am .  I still am not sure what is wrong with him.  He had what sounded like croup during the night.  He is very short of breath and his feet are full of fluid.  They admitted him right away and are doing heart tests to see if anything is wrong.  They are giving him treatment for his lungs too.  They say he does not have pneumonia.  SOOoo, I am tired and he is crabby, I came home so he could rest and so could I.

MOre when I know more.

Neon,  Postman is a must see.

I don't mean Waterworld is my altime fav or Costners, but i really enjoyed it enough to buy it and watch it several times.

Enjoyed Depp in Alice... pretty kewl.... Depp in  PIRATES was awesome , except the last PIRATES WAS WORTHLESS... We  had taken some friends that were visiting us to see the latest Pirates, and we were all stunned, it was so absolutely dumb and not well made at all..

Waterworld is probably a cult type film...

Like  Princess Bride, you are either a fan of this tongue in cheek drama/comedy or you hate it.... no middle..

Sick-O-, My father had a black walnut tree on his property on Long Island. He wanted it cut down because it was too close to the house and was getting so big. He put an ad in the Newsday paper, “Black Walnut tree to the highest bidder, you cut it down and remove the stump”. Someone paid him $20,000.00 for the tree, the wood is priceless to carpenters and in in high demand. I just wanted to tell you. I also think the tutor.com would be great for you, you could do it while watching the kids.

I was listening to the sports radio a few days ago and for some reason in an off-topic conversation, the caller wanted to know:  Why is Johnny Depp always choosing roles in which he will wear white makeup?

So in my mind, I started going through a few movies in my head:

Donnie Brasco (no......awesome movie), Alice in Wonderland (yup), Sweeney Todd (yup), Pirates of Carribean (no), Wonka (eh....no, but it feels like he is), Scissorhands (yup).

Hmmmm, maybe something to that.

I like alienware computers but they are so damned expensive, especially when you can get computers that  either are the same or better for less. You are however buying a quality computer from the US. The one I sold had the biometerics which is great especially if it is stolen, because the entire hdd was locked up.

I hadn't heard of that tutor place I shall check it out.

Hello everyone how are you today? I am doing betta, yes betta, (that’s my Brooklyn speaking)! I thought I was going to die two weeks ago, and wanted to die. I looked at myself in the mirror, still seeing double, and said to myself “Who are you?”. I looked like crap, I didn’t even remember the last time I left the house. You know what I did, go ahead guess……Tick……….Tock………..Tick………………Tock! Okay I will tell ya, I took myself off all the drugs slowly, I didn’t even ask the doctors. I think the doctors had prescribed me drugs to counter act what the other drugs were doing to me.

Oh oh, my computer just did a thunder noise, that means “ A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall”, who sang that song the best?

So what is wrong with being a cougar, I think I am more in Jaguar category. My mind is always in the gutta, yes gutta! My son has this friend visiting , he was an exchange student from Italy, and is visiting for a few weeks. He comes over my house, I was dressed so nice and I never dress for my sons friends, so he came over and gave me a big hug, and then I said “Say something nice in Italian”, he did, I have no idea what he said, but it sure did feel nice, every hair on my body was standing straight up, and I felt really warm. He is 21, so he is not a kid or anything, then I would feel perverted. It just felt great! When I go to New York, with my friends I do flirt, but I never cross the line. My husband knows how bad I am, he subscribes to this magazine “Flex”, last month they had this amazing man on the front cover. I told my husband I need that cover, he just laughed. I have it in my bathroom!

Sick-O, I got my son a Alienware M17 laptop. He need a really good gaming computer, he is going to college for Commercial Pilot, he is going under AFROTC so he needed something for the flight simulation games. I don’t want to say what I paid for it, you can see it http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/laptop-alienware-m17x/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-alienware-m17x&s=dhs&cs=19&~ck=mn

It has everything. College for him is going to be expensive, I was trying to find a laptop with all the right specks that he needed, I really needed help, but this has everything and more. I told him he will have to be in class 15 minutes early just to turn it on, it has face recognition, and scans eyeballs to turn it on.

Sick-O did you ever look at that web sitehttp://www.tutor.com/ .

My son makes about $600.00 a week tutoring kids on line. There is a big process to become a tutor, all you have to be is smart. Kids from 1st grade to Masters degrees need help. There are many parents to use it to help there kids with school work. You don’t need a degree, you just need to prove you have qualifications to tutor some one. My son tutors Math, he is qualified all the way up to nano quantum physics, but he will still tutor a 1st grader if they need help. He logs on to the computer, and tutors when he has off time, and he gets paid, weather you tutor anyone or not. He signs on and plays the 360 waiting for someone to need help. You seem so smart, extra bucks is a great thing.

Shoppe and Marilyn it seems like all is well with you both. Shoppe good luck with the chicken it sounds great. It must be nice to have grandkids, I don’t think I will see any for a long time, with the help of God. I think they will cut me off.

I love you all, still seeing double, but who cares.

Theresa

I really must remember to post in hear more often (it's really been a month since I posted in here????)...

Si Ko, we have held off on buying house until we figure out my school stuff. The relatives live down in Brookings, SD

Shoppe, here is that reciped with the black beans, rice, salsa, and chicken...

An easy chicken recipe from Cindy, using only 5 ingrdients. Crockpot chicken with salsa and cheese.

Cook Time: 3 hours

Total Time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained

  • 2 cans (15 oz) whole kernel corn, drained

  • 1 cup bottled thick and chunky salsa, your favorite

  • 5 or 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 2 lbs)

  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Preparation:

In a 3-1/2- to 5-quart slow cooker, mix together the black beans, corn, and 1/2 cup of the salsa. Top with the chicken breasts, then pour the remaining 1/2 cup salsa over the chicken. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the chicken is tender and white throughout; do not overcook or the chicken will be dry. Sprinkle cheese on top; cover and cook until the cheese melts, about 5 to 15 minutes.
Serves 6.

I found it in a reader digest, I can't find the article, but that sounds about exactly right. I served that on some rice to spread it out amongst us piggies, lol. (Pretty much what Care did!)

Theresa, I wish I would have known you were in the market for a laptop! I had a 5 month old high end laptop I was selling. Is there a certain brand the school makes you get? I miss that computer, but it was take a loan out or sell the computer, so I sold the computer. You can get very powerful machines for around a thousand brand new. I just got one helluva desktop for under 500, and for 150 more, I will rival anything on the market today. If you haven't bought one yet, hit me up on FB. Anyways I don't really want to be a TV meteorologist, and frankly I don't know what the hell I will do with my degree. The NWS doesn't have a good hiring outlook, nor do most other weather industry stuff. I do have an idea for a business I thought up a few years ago. For that matter I could just start that with out college.

Good news for all you suffering from the heat and humidity in the Norther Plains, it will end this weekend for at least a week!. I can't believe the summer is almost over already!

Hi to all of you cyber friends!

Last Friday I packed up and took off for Fargo.  One of our son's friends from jr. high and high school rode along with me.  Was so nice to have him along.  Son was so glad to have him.  I think the reconection was great.  They spent time just visiting and laughing, talking and tipping a few.  (beers)

There was a party that was planned by daughter in law for Sat night.  I wanted to attend so bad.  I found someone to help take care of my hubby so I could leave.  One of our neighbors and a niece took some looks in on him and I sure did appreitiate it.

Got to go to the party and had a great time.  It was HOT and VERY humid.  If sweat were gold we could all be rich.  There were about 40 people there.  I was glad to go back to our motel and cool off.  Stayed at a super 8 suites in Fargo.  Was great because there were two bed room areas so son's friend and I had privacy and could split the costs.

Came back home yesterday and checked on my patient, he was fine but just as grumpy as when I left.  I think I will go again.  :o)  I hope better days for him are soon coming.

Now on to some laundry and house work...

Hope all of you had a nice weekend.

Good lands Curly!! To think that it could have been worse than it was! Too bad he took his helmet off, as that would have maybe prevented the concussion. Broken ribs are so painful, but hubby will learn real fast what moves NOT to make. Thank you Tax.  Yes, was son's first deployment and we HOPE the last, but it may not be.  We are very thankful it was to Kosovo and not to Afganistan or Iraq.

Yes re-entry can be a war of it's own and he has been isolated and by himself much of his year away.  He has already told me it will be hard to readjust to being with the children.  They are great little ones but....make noise and mess and love to play and laugh.  I know he will be fine but will require time and understanding.  I wish I could go see him as it has been over a year now, but what will be will be.

My husband has had lots of experience with pain meds cause of his back injury of the past.  He takes a med just for the problems you mentioned.  We are hoping to avoid the problem.  No fun.

Thank you, all of you for your supportive words.  It is kind of rough here at my house.  He is in incredible pain.  Even his back surgeries were not this tough.  Every time he moves, that rib flexes a little and he just groans with the pain.  He is on a meg dose of pain meds but still does not cut it.  I wish there was more that can be done for broken ribs, but there is not.  Getting up and down from bed is the worst.  Right now he is on the couch.  He can roll to the floor and then stand from the couch.  Well, this too shall pass.  That is a phrase I have used for years when the going get tough.  Most of the time things get better.  Do you folks ever wonder why one person or family has to struggle so much?  He has sure had to suffer with so much pain over the last few years.  I feel so sorry for him.

Not sure if I will be able to go to our son's party.  His wife is hosting a party for him tomorrow night.  He is home and we spoke with him yesterday.  He sounds glad to be there but I think the kids aremaking him a little crazy.  He is not used to the noise of children and kind of got used to his quiet.  He did not say so but I could tell.

I have a neice here in town.  If she can come and watch out for hubby, maybe I will go to FArgo.

WEll, will report in later.

He is home here with me now, with two broken ribs and a mild concussion and split lip with stitches and some major road rash on his left side, arm, elbow, and forehead.  He also has one other thing as do I,  a VERY greatful heart that he is okay and all will heal.  I think he is done riding motorcycles though.  He tried it years ago and had a couple of close calls then too and it is now a thing of the past.

As for his back and the accident?  He said it does not hurt anymore then it did before.   We are so glad he did not get to our son's house and then have a child on with him when te brakes malfunctioned.  Now that could have been very bad.  I am having a hard time sleeping tonight.  I have some pretty vivid memories of the horror unfolding in front of me.   My patient is sleeping okay but he has some pretty good meds to help with the pain and it is making him sleep pretty well.

Needless to say, we never got to see our son coming in from Kosovo.  I will keep you all posted on when that will happen.  What a story huh??

Well, hyou all are not gonna beleive this one.  It is almost more then you can imagine.

A while back my husband bought a motorcycle.  Thinking it is something he could do.  Not too physical and still something he has always enjoyed.  He has had many enjoyable rides around town and out to Burlington and back.  He is always so careful and cautious I thought he was doing so well and he was.  Since his back issues mainly include the inablility to lift anything over 20 lbs and not being able to sit well, he at least could do some riding around town.  He decided that since his back was doing pretty well of late, he would ride the bike down to Fargo so our son could have it a few weeks upon his arrival back from Kosovo.  We left yesterday morning from home here in Minot, everything was going well.  He rode and I was behind him.  He was having a great time and he stopped by Sawyer and took OFF his helmet cause it was too tight.  He needs to purchase a bit larger one and did not realize it grown smaller as he has gained about 20 lbs since he last wore it.  He was feeling fine though and all was still well.  got back on the bike and rode to Velva and just on the east side of town, we came upon a uhaul truck and he slowed a little and I noticed him stuggling to keep the bike on the middle of the lane.  What had happened is the front brake caliper (I think that is what it is called) and he could not use the brakes.  As he went over the rumble strip at the side of the road he kept braking and struggling with this.  Within seconds he was to the side of the road and down in the ditch, still upright but struggling to keep it so.  He then hit the back brakes as hard as he could to slow it down as much as possible, knowing soon the impact would come.  the tail end of the bike started to come around and threw him clear and then the bike rolled a couple of times.  I am behind him seeing all of this.  You can imagine my horror.  I stopped the pickup I was driving, ran to him and did not know what to expect.  He was winded and in shock.  spoke to him and he could answer.  I called 911 for help.  Soon some folks from Canada stopped to help, they were on motorcycles too.  Then the highway patrol was there and decided to call the ambulance since I had told them he did not need one.  He is bleeding from his lip but that was all I could see.  Had some road rash on his arm and forhead bleeding as well.

The ambulance came and decided he needed to be xrayed and have the lip stitched up and transported him to Trinity.  I followed in the truck.  OUr neighbor came and got the bike and hauled it into the Honda dealer for appraisal.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a Norwegian film that just came out on DVD recently.  I guess a book came out first?  This movie will catch you off guard.  The ending is very good.  If you can handle the subtitles for the first 15 minutes you will soon forget your even having to read  words.  Very weird, creepy, well written, who dunnit, with a little European/Norwegian flair to it.  It will scare the crap out of you by the way....lol  Reply...

Native American characteristics, yep.  I would forget about  the base and it was jarring each time we were returned to it.  That reminded me of 'Never Ending Story'.

Dancing with the Wolves was a lonnnng movie.  One evening on Peds a 3 y/o little girl and I sat straight through the entire movie.  She was my only patient that evening.  When it was all over, she quietly clapped and asked if we could watch it again.  Another evening a little 5 y/o who had 'violet episodes' sat quietly on his bed in his room and watched it in its entirety.

You know.....as much as we talk about politics and the finer points of argument, it is movies like Avatar that implant themselves in the consciousness and move opinions far more than these debates.

Ironically, the real cartoon-y portrayals are of the capitalists and military....not the animated Navi.  But when it is done in such a way, I don't think such portrayals endure.  But the care that was put into telling the story of that planet will.

It is the imagery that is the real star of the movie.  Whenever we leave the forest and go back to the base or to the laboratory, it was a necessary disappointment.  Similar to other movies when you leave a great story line and have to put up with the lesser concurrent back-story.

That message of interconnectedness and holistic approach to the life of a planet is what is implanted. And the filmmaker did a great job of telling that story.

my 2 cents....maybe less.

Neon, I also think it was a one time movie.  Mostly because after I saw it on the big screen, watching it on DVD will just not be the same.   And the scenery is why I loved the first one..

so, Neon,   we agree again.

Wuwie, Dances with Wolves was exactly what I said to my wife after watching it.   I always rate a great movie on whether I'd take the time to watch it again from start to finish.  It was a good movie but I probably wouldn't watch it again.  Unless of course I'm flicking thru the channels bored and start watching it halfway through ten years from now...which brings me to A Few Good Men...If I'm channel surfing and I come upon that movie I'm stuck till it's over...at least until the Nicholson vs Cruise scene is over anyways....lol

Hello, what a whirlwind I have been on.  Thought son was coming in on the 4th. Now seems like more then likely tomorrow late in the day.  We are having a big party for his return with lots of family and friends at his house in Fargo.  He did not really want a party but his wife insisted and he finally agreed.  He just wants quiet.  He said crowds of people make him nervous.  So we are leavin tomorrow.  I have been working like a crazy women all night to get ready.

We will take my lap top so will more then likely be around once we are settled in our hotel room.

later all of you fine folks.

The marijuana growers in California are not in favor of leagalizing it because they would have to fire the workers who are getting paid $20.00/hr to harvest their crops.... or reduce their wage to $7 or $8/hr because of the taxes.  Taxes are not the answer for our debt/deficit anyway.

Legalize marijuana and we will have that many more driving under the influence.  I still say a conviction of a DUI  should lead to life long loss of the vehicle AND the privilege to operate a vehicle, period, end of subject.  And anyone who behaves as an enabler by loaning out their vehicle, will lose their privilege for  three years the first time and permanently after the second offense.  Either we are serious about this or we are not.

Hey Flapps, how about marijuana hotels?

Here in ND some idiot received his 15 DUI.  If he would have been picked up for pot possession he would have been thrown in jail, possibly have his car confiscated, house, etc. and lost his drivers license.  Not so here.  Let's give this idiot another chance, how about 14 more!!!  No one should be on the road under the influence of anything.  You would think that someone along the line would speak up and say, "Hey this A - - H - - - doesn't need another chance, but not so here in North Dakota.  Don't get me wrong, I love North Dakota, it's my home.  As far as I'm concerned California is on the right track concerning pot!  Try to control it and tax it, Lord only knows people need jobs there!  By the way, any of you posters out there that can give proof that anyone has OD from pot, please copy and post. Hi ladies and Grant.

Visited the dentist this morning.  I was very nervous, always am when its the dentist..  But I faced reality and said several friends are facing a whole lot worse than just a needle, so I did it and didn't chicken out.   I am pretty numb, but otherwise fine.

Going to a $5 movie tonight at  11 pm.. last showing of a movie we want to see.

Carrie (for whom this post started) decided to google songs with dentist, and found me a great  Tim Conway and a funny  Steve Martin  video on youtube.   Thanks Carrie... I think...

It seems so simple.  Don't drive after or while you drink.  You know I just thought of something.  The slogan 'don't drink and drive' is misleading.  I bet many many of those picked up and are under the influence were NOT drinking WHILE they were driving.  That's where we went wrong.  Maybe it should be  'Had 1 drink?  Don't drive.'  hmmmmmm Reply...

Yes, I like the every 15 min breath test.

If another person is found to have aided and abetted a drunk to drive, that person should be procecuted and jailed.  If a murder happens, then that person would also be guilty of murder, same as driver.

We have laws,  the laws are ignored, and people die needlessly.

How is your device working Marilyn? Reply...

Posted by Marilyn on Jul 30 2010 11:46PM In the Article: CALIFORNIA POT
As of a year ago, we had 400 people using this device. Check out how this works -

Ignition Interlock

As of July 1, 2009, the ignition interlock device will be mandatory for certain repeat DWI offenders in Minnesota. The ignition interlock program originally started as a pilot project in Hennepin County and Beltrami County. Due to the success of these pilot programs, the State Legislature made the move to mandatory programs in all Minnesota counties. At the time of the pilot project, Minnesota was 1 of 5 states that did not use the ignition interlock device in any capacity.

WHAT IS IGNITION INTERLOCK?

The ignition interlock device sits under the console or dashboard of your car and is connected to a blow tube that looks very much like a cell phone. To start the car equipped with an ignition interlock device, the driver must blow into the tube and hum for a certain period of time. If there is no alcohol detected from the driver’s breath, the car’s ignition will start and is ready for use. However, the driver is not done blowing. As the car is being driven, the device prompts the driver to blow into the tube every 15 minutes. These repeated blows are commonly known as “rolling tests” which make it harder for the driver to cheat the device. Some devices even take pictures of the driver blowing into the device at these 15 minute intervals. While not perfect, these devices are certainly here to stay and preliminary research indicates that recidivism is less than 10 percent.

HOW MUCH DOES THE IGNITION INTERLOCK COST?

The ignition interlock device requires a $90 installation fee plus a $5 per day fee while in use. There's also a $50 removal fee.

New Minnesota DWI Law Signed by Governor

Legislation mandates use of ignition interlock devices in MN drunk driving cases

Governor Tim Pawlenty signed legislation calling for mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device for certain Minnesota DWI offenders. The new law allows those convicted of driving while intoxicated in Minnesota to recover their driving privileges if they agree to install the special device. An ignition interlock acts as a small breath tester, and a driver must provide a breath sample before starting the vehicle. If the sample exhibits alcohol above a pre-set limit, the ignition will become disabled and the vehicle will not start for a set period of time. The device also requires periodic retesting to prohibit a motorist from having someone else provide a breath sample.

Under the new Minnesota DWI law, drunk driving offenders who register a blood alcohol content at or above .16% (twice the legal limit) will be required to install an ignition interlock. Those who opt for the interlock device will have their full driving privileges restored immediately. Those who do not will have their driving privileges suspended for a period of 1 to 6 years, depending on the degree of the offense and other factors. Repeat offenders with three or more DWI arrests in Minnesota in a 10-year period will also be required to install the device.

Minnesota started an ignition interlock pilot program in mid-2009 that allowed more than 1000 motorists convicted of DWI in MN to regain their driver's licenses.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety hopes the new measure will reduce the number of chronic drunk drivers on state roads, in turn reducing alcohol related traffic fatalities.

************************************

The problem is that many DUI people continue to drive even though they have lost their license. Some of these people have numerous DUI's and have done time, and are so hopelessly addicted to booze that they get out of prison and continue to drive anything they can get their hands on.

IT SEEMS THOUGH THAT THE LAW DOES NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY, AS THERE ARE TOO MANY REPEAT OFFENDERS OUT THERE.  THEY WILL GET BEHIND THE WHEEL DRUNK EVEN IF THEIR LICENSE IS TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM.  AND THEN THERE IS POOR LINDSEY LOHAN WE MUST DEAL WITH.  POOR THING!

It is for those very reasons that no one wants to take a hard line on drunk driving nearly everyone has been quilty of it.   but, innocent people continue to be killed or maimed.   I wonder how many lives would be spared if vehicular access would be prohibited for two years after the first DUI and for life after the 2nd? It ceratainly isn't unfair to the potential accident victim, nor to the driver who would know the consequences of getting caught driving drunk.  Reply...

Yes we do do things to stop drunk driving. We have strict DUI laws in most states with severe repercussions. We have people who have the gonads to take keys away from drunks who think they're going to drive themselves home. We also have designated drivers programs, and alot of bars will see to it that if you've had too much too drink, you get home without driving yourself. (saves them getting sued) There are things we are doing to help curb the danger. It's the drunk drivers that aren't doing enough. Reply...

Hello everyone, and how are you? I am so, so, let’s not talk about it. It is great your son is home Curly, did he get that job in DC? I need to go back and reread the posts. Curly I have never been to a Chiropractor, Doctors laugh when I say “Should I go to a Chiropractor“, my doctor even said he will stop seeing me if I go to a Chiropractor, because they make things worse. I personally don’t like anyone touching me like that. I have so many problems with my back and neck and have never tried one. I really believe exercise makes for a better back, and I have a really bad back Curly.

I haven’t been going to the soup kitchen, I pass out without notice so I don’t really leave the house very much, and I still have double vision. I believe the sinus surgery I had in December screwed me up. One of the papers you have to sign for the sinus surgery was that you knew the risks, the number one risks was double vision. So I went and got fitted for glasses yesterday, they need to be prism lenses so I won’t see double. Of course if anyone knows me I had to get Dolce and Gabbana, with all the glitz, (cause I am a glitzy lady) (that’s a joke).

Shoppe how hot is it by you, it seams like the east coast is cooking. My father calles everyday and tells me how hot it is New York. Everyday I say “Dad I am watching the Today Show, I know how hot it is!” Oy Vey! I am going to go for now, my eyes are getting tired. I love you all.

Ko call me if you are ever in the area!
