National forest officials taking comment on river management plan
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) February 29th is the deadline for public
comment on a management plan for part of the Clarks Fork of the
Yellowstone River.
The plan being developed by staff for the Shoshone National
Forest, in Wyoming, deals with the river's 20-mile stretch that
Congress designated as "wild and scenic." Users of the river
corridor include anglers, kayakers, backpackers and people on
all-terrain vehicles.
Marty Sharp of the Shoshone forest staff says a 1986 plan
established interim management. Sharp says the new plan will be
more specific in addressing pressure put on natural resources, as
recreational use of the area has grown.
