Williams is coming off an up-and-down season with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Timberwolves see the veteran combo guard as an ideal pairing with rookie Zach LaVine on the team's second unit.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Kyle Rudolph has a new contract to match the significant value the Minnesota Vikings have considered him to be for their offense. Rudolph has 1,055 yards and 15 touchdowns over his three-year NFL career. The Vikings believe Rudolph can not only be an integral part of their system but perform like the elite tight end he'll be getting paid to be this season and beyond.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Jake Odorizzi won his third consecutive start as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 last night. Odorizzi allowed one run and three hits in seven innings to beat the team that took him 32nd overall in the 2008 draft. Mark Reynolds put the Brewers ahead 1-0 with his 18th homer of the season in the third.

NEW YORK (AP) - A minor league third baseman in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for an amphetamine. The commissioner's office issued the penalty yesterday to Nick Delmonico. Delmonico was playing for Class A Brevard County of the Florida State League.
