Mandan, ND -

Mandan's downtown continues to grow with new businesses.  Reporter Kate Keller takes us there in this week's Around Town.

After being diagnosed with celiac disease in May, Lisa Helseth has had trouble finding gluten-free products in Bismarck Mandan to help her cope.  That's why she's opening Lisa's Gluten Free and More on West Main in Mandan, to hopefully help others like herself.  Crews are wrapping up construction on the store.  Lisa's Gluten Free and More will specialize in gluten-free, wheat-free and organic products.   Lisa hopes to have the store open by the end of next month.

"It is very hard to find a lot of products available in town.  Most people have to order online or go to Minneapolis to get food so that is why we invested in this store, to not only help our family, but to help others who have celiac disease or who are gluten intolerant or gluten sensitivity," said owner Lisa Helseth.

Lisa hopes to have over 2000 different products. You can learn more about the store at lisaglutenfreeandmore.com.

Tucked just off 3rd Avenue NW in Mandan sits the Sunshine Shoppe.  Owner, Lisa Hustad, has run the business, which first started as a hobby, out of her home since 2008.  She has primarily sold her handmade creations online, but decided to give a store front a try.  Sunshine Shoppe offers hair clips, hats, headbands, hair bows and other accessories.  Lisa hopes to branch out and add bridal pieces down the line.  Sunshine Shoppe is open Monday through Friday 9 to 5.  You can visit mysunshineshoppe.com to see what the store has to offer.

It won't be long until this sign is replaced with one that say Brea, a new clothing boutique in Mandan.  Owner, Eve Kostelecky, hopes to have the women's and children's clothing store open in March.  Kostelecky says crews are remodeling the inside and she continues to get new shipments of clothing for the store.   She's wanted to have her own boutique for a while now and when this space became available she jumped at the opportunity. The store sits at 906 2nd Street NW in Mandan.
