It coughs and cries, but most of all it gives these students a lesson in caring for children. Meet Hal. He's the latest simulator at Medcenter One's College of Nursing. These junior level nursing students are treating Hal for asthma. Instructors can control just about everything, giving students hands on experience before they treat patients.
"They can make it really real. They can have them code on you. They can make them stop breathing. They can make it really real. They can make them change colors. You can talk with them. So it's really, really real," said nursing student Brandi Ozbun.
Instructors say the adolescent simulator will provide a huge benefit to the students, because at times, it's difficult to treat children.
