Dozens of people are walking for wishes.
North Dakota's Make a Wish Foundation held their annual walk this morning at Horizon Middle School. The walk is the foundation's biggest fundraiser statewide. Last year it brought in more than 15,000 dollars.
The Make a Wish Foundation grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Over the years 600 North Dakota Children have gotten to 'Make a Wish.' Allison Restemayer got to go Disney World, and was surprised by her idol Miley Cyrus. Allison says, "I was really really excited."
Allison has a rare metabolic disorder that requires her to have weekly enzyme replacements. Just months before her make a wish trip she under went a spinal cord surgery. Allison's mother says children with medical conditions have many difficult experiences that most children don't have to deal with. She says 'Make A Wish' gave their family a chance to get away from some of those stresses.
Allison's mom, Jennifer Restemayer, says, "It just rejuvenates you and helps you focus on something other than the crises. As family you come together as a family during the surgeries and challenging things but it's also nice to experience something fun as a family too."
Donations for Make A Wish are still being accepted. For more information visit www.northdakota.wish.org
