Train-Semi Accident

Posted: Updated:

Two men were injured this morning when a Canadian Pacific train collided with a tractor trailer just west of Minot near the Del Nor Drive area.

The Highway Patrol reports that the semi driven by 45 year old Francis Derose Junior of Axle, Texas failed to yield to the westbound CP train.
The train struck the semi's cab, ripping it and the engine away from the vehicle.
Both rolled into the ditch along Highway 2.
Derose and his passenger, 43 year old David Stevens of Dover, Arizona were wearing seatbelts and suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
The frame of the truck was wrapped around the front of the train when it came to a stop about a quarter mile from the scene.
Crews with CP Rail said when the scene was cleared they would start the task of checking the track to make sure it came through the incident ok -- only then would the line be re-opened.
