Central Cab Company has officially opened for business in Minot.  With a staff of three keeping the operation humming 24-7 directing ten different drivers, management says they have entered into business with the goal of filling a great need for more taxi service.  Central Cab is the second company in Minot now -- and the goal is to offer clean, fast service...and that means when you get into the cab...expect a clean smell...

(Charis Braum - Manager, Central Cab) "Our goal is to have no smoking in the vehicles.  Some people are allergic now...you have people who go to non-smoking establishments and then get in a smoking cab.  People don't like that."

People also like the option of traveling where ever they need to go...and Central Cab is willing to do that -- even long distances...

(Charis Braum - Manager, Central Cab) "We have people who are wanting to go to Bismarck, and Portal, and Grand Forks from the airport here in town.  There is definitely a supply of people wanting to go long distances."

Central Cab is locally owned.

In Sawyer, the Perk'em Up Coffee Shop has changed hands to Jennifer Wikstrom.  She took over late last year the restaurant that has been open for nearly a year.  She says the task of running a restaurant has been enjoyable...and she hopes to expand on what they offer now in the future...

(Jennifer Wikstrom - Perk 'em Up) "We just do breakfast and lunch right now.  Eventually I would like to keep it open longer in the evenings."

You'll find Perk 'em Up on Dakota Avenue in Sawyer.  With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
