Around Town March 30th

Posted: Updated:

Looking for a sweet treat? You might want to check out the newest addition to downtown Bismarck.

Sweet Treats Cupcake Bar and Bakery is now open on 4th Avenue in Downtown Bismarck.

Owner Rachel Allerdings originally from Minot fell in love with baking at an early age helping her mom in the kitchen.

So when she and her family moved back to North Dakota a couple of years ago opening a bakery seemed like icing on the cake.

"One thing we really specialize in is our build your own cupcake bar you come in choose your cupcake and type of frosting and then two toppings to mix in some people choose sprinkle some cocoanut its really up to you."

Sweet Treats is open Monday-Friday 9:30 to 5:30 and Saturday's 10-2.

And if your prefer to eat lunch before desert, Sweet Treats has you covered.

The serve homemade soups and sandwiches from 11-2 daily.

If you are looking to add a little spice to your day...An Authentic Mexican redcurrant, Taco Palenque, is opening soon.

The owners say they hope to open sometime next week and are just waiting on a final inspection.

There are 15 other Taco Palenque locations in South Texas, this will be the first in North Dakota.

It was suppose to open after remodeling last spring, but the Missouri River had other plans. The Pier Restaurant and bar in South Port is planning to reopen on May 1st.

Co-owner Judy Moritz says last summer the restaurant took on a foot of water, but after a second remodel it is almost ready to re-open.

But it wont look quite like it did before, Moritz says they have moved the kitchen to the south end are only reopening the downstairs and deck.

The menu will feature 21 of their most popular items and they will offer a boat side to go option as well.

Taking you around town I'm Megan Lowry.

Also the Mysteria theater is up for sale in Mandan... The club that was currently running was evicted.

Now the building owner says buyers are welcome.
