From vintage clothes and jewelry to scarves from Guatemala, boutiques are helping mold Mandan's Downtown.

Susie Q's Craft Emporium located next to the Depot in Mandan is now open. Owner Sue Hoffman has been selling local crafts, foods and antiques from her home for years but decided it was time to expand.

Susie Q's is open from around 9- 5 Monday- Friday and Saturdays 10-3. Hoffman's says she gets new merchandise in every week, including pride of Dakota coffees, jams and chocolates.

"I just have a lot of neat little gift items and I try to do a lot of North Dakota things homemade stuff I have a whole sections for that." says Hoffman

Hoffman also sells scarf's and jewelry made in Guatemala. All the proceeds from those sales go back to the village. To see what's on the shelves this week check out her Face book page.

Across the street The Traveling Trunk takes you back in time. The Traveling Trunk specializes in everything vintage; trunks, jewelry, clothes, and kitchenware.

"What we like to do it provide re purposed items as well so you might look at something and say that's junk but for some one else it could go on they're mantal piece something like that and give it a new life" says Kristi Keller

At the end of the month Keller says she is moving from her downtown location to her home Northwest of Mandan.

She says she plans to expand and offer more event showcases.

Just next door, the Purse Store has been in Mandan's downtown for a few years, but is hoping an expanding downtown will bring in more shoppers from the surrounding areas.

The Purse Store offers Coach, Michael Koors, and other New York designers. But that's not all The Purse store has prom and bridal jewelry, wallets and western belts.

It's open Friday and Saturday 11-5 or by appointment.
