Bismarck, ND -
Craft beers are sweeping the nation -- gaining in popularity throughout the country.
And soon, Bismarck will have it's own homemade beer.
Donnell Preskey has the details in this weeks Around Town.
Bismarck will soon have it's first brewery in decades... Mike Frohlich has been sitting on the equipment needed to brew beer for three years.
But his equipment will be making it's way out of his garage and into a pub in the next couple months.
Frohlich hopes to have "Laughing Sun" open at 107 N. 5th Street September 1 with seven homemade beers on tap.
Frohlich says,"if you see the tap lines in Bismarck already, you'll see the Walrus just expanded, you'll look at Peacock, Blarney, Toasted Frog, the taps are already expanding and getting more craft beers. So if we bring the freshest beer in town. People are going to be drinking beer that's 2 weeks old."
The pub will be in the heart of downtown -- walking distance from several bars.
"The location we're at with the new construction on 5th & Main, I think between that and Peacock, Blarney and Fiesta and all that area, it couldn't be better to be part of a vibrant community where people are walking around downtown riding bike, it couldn't be better for us," says Frohlich.
My Sunshine Shoppe is now on Century Avenue in Bismarck. The baby boutique recently moved from Mandan. The store specializes in girl clothing and accessories including hair bands, hats and bows.
They even have something for those babes without hair -- they market their own all natural baby hair glue.
Just a dab will make a bow stick on any bald baby.
A new shop is opening in Medora.
The "Made in the U.S.A. Mercantile will have items made entirely in the U.S.A. including "Pride of Dakota" items.
It is going in the Stage Barn & Teddy's Bear store.
They will be open Memorial Day weekend.
