Measure 4 got a resounding yes at the polls yesterday.
The measure being passed retires the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux nickname.
Some students at U-N-D say they are taking it pretty hard. Many people say they are just happy the battle is over.
After years of argument and battling back and forth the University had begun phasing out the controversial logo this past year.
With state law being reversed once already making it mandatory to keep--the vote of the people had the final say.
(Dr. Robert Kelley/President of the University of North Dakota) "This will permit the University now to move ahead this benefits all of our students not just our student athletes but this will impact all of our students and all of our programs the entire environment going forward on our campus.
The Sioux nickname has been with the school since 1930.
