Minot Woman in Key Heritage Position

Posted: Updated:

A Minot Woman earned herself a key position with the Sons of Norway.

Minot resident Martha Elliott was recently elected the President of District Four of the Sons of Norway.
Elliott assumed the position on June 16th after being nominated for the position and campaigning to delegates at the organization's convention.
Her new duties as President of District Four include helping to preserve the Norwegian heritage and promoting culture.
Elliott has belonged to the Sons of Norway since 1990.
Previously, she has been the zone director for Zone Three in Western North Dakota and has served as the cultural publicity director and vice president for District Four.
Elliott says becoming the President for District Four was not always one of her goals.

(Martha Elliott, President of District Four, Sons of Norway)"When I joined Sons of Norway in 1990, this was the farthest thing from my mind.  Who thought?  Twenty-two years ago you just became a member of the lodge."

The four areas in District Four include North Dakota, Montana, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
