The sound of the civil defense sirens wailing throughout Minot one year ago today was something most people will never forget.
We talked with people today about what they thought and felt at 12:57pm on June 22nd, 2011 when the sirens were sounding.
(Minot Resident) "I was actually up at my parent's house we had already evacuated."
(Minot Resident) "We were working on my Volkswagen Bug trying to get it ready for our wedding."
(Minot Resident) "I was taking stuff out of the front closet and loading it into the back of the car."
(Minot Resident) "I was driving a dump truck hauling dirt."
(Minot Resident) "Just kind of waiting."
When those sirens went off what was your immediate thought when you heard them?
(MInot Resident) "It was just an ugly feeling, emptiness, I started crying."
(Minot Resident) "It was a really, just kind of surreal eerie feeling."
(Minot Resident) "Wow, you know, this, it is happening, it is going to happen."
(Minot Resident) "They went off and your realized everything was kind of real."
