Enbridge Celebrates 50 Years

Posted: Updated:

Enbridge Pipelines celebrated 50 years of service in North Dakota at a stakeholder luncheon this afternoon.

Over the past five years Enbridge's North Dakota system has expanded greatly keeping up with the influx of Bakken crude being extracted.
More recently, Enbridge has added a 145 million dollar station in Berthold to enhance the capability of North Dakota's crude oil system.
The project includes new 150-thousand barrel tanks, and a new rail and double loop track.
This project will more than double it's 2011 capacity.

(Mike Moeller, Director of Enbridge Pipelines of North Dakota) "The growth is pretty phenomenal when you think about the numbers. The system, Enbridge acquired it in late 90's at 80 thousand barrels per day. By January of next year we will be up to 475 thousand barrels per day. That is about a 600 percent increase in five short years.

Enbridge Pipelines is planning Open House events in communities throughout the state in the month of July.
