Health Care Plan Impacts Small Businesses

Posted:

The US supreme court upheld Obamas health care plan as constitutional yesterday.

Steep me a cup of tea is a small business ran by Jerry and Terisina Hintz, they are looking to expand in the Fargo area,

but with the obama care plan coming in affect they have to reevaluate if the growth is worth the cup of tea.

(Jerry Hintz/ Store Owner) "We aren't willing to risk what we've done so far to take a growth step to lose everything."

Hintz says under the plan -- he believes it will cost him ore to have part time employees.

(Terisina Hintz / Store Owner)>>"We have part time employees what does that happen for us as a small business, were going to have them not work?"

That's not their only concern, Jerry is worried about the Government controlling health care.

(Jerry Hintz/ Store Owner) "There is some of those things that I'm kind really hurt about, because our elderly population is going to get the grunt of it."

(Arielle Johnson/ Reporter) Owners of steep me a cup of tea have many concerns about the issue, However another small business owner doesn't share those same concerns it's mother daughter owned store Lot 2029.

(Modonna Wald / Store Owner) " I like the obama plan and um few reasons for that I like the idea that even with the pre existing conditon you can not be refused"

Being a mother, Madonna likes the idea that kids under 26 can be on their parents plan, so everyone is covered.

In the near future if they do expand and hire additional employees they have already thought about the mandated changes.

(Modonna Wald/ Store Owner) "If we get employees well just know that going into this we will offer them that I just think everbody has the right to insurance."

Madonna says she feels it's a business owner's obligation to offer insurance.

(Modonna Wald/ Store Owner) " I just like the idea that everyone is going to get some coverage."

The health care mandate will not come in affect till 2014.
