Retired Police Officer Event

Posted: Updated:

Motorcycles lined the highway today to honor a friend and former Minot Police Officer.

Rich Lewellyn is a native of Minot and served as an officer for the Minot Police Department for over ten years before being forced to retire early from progressive medical complications pertaining to his brain.
Friends of Lewellyn put on a benefit motorcycle ride in efforts to raise money for medical expenses.
Lewellyn took to riding three years ago but his medical condition limits his time on the road.

(Richard Lewellyn, Minot Resident) "I haven't been able to operate my motorcycle since last summer. So hopefully I can start operating a vehicle and begin driving and ride my motorcycle in August. I hope."

Lewellyn just recently underwent brain surgery and continues to make trips to and from Mayo with the support of family, friends, and most of all, his wife Michele.

(Richard Lewellyn, Minot Resident) "You really realize how much family and friends really mean to you. My wife has been absolutely incredible this entire time. She has been the most supportive person during this entire nine years and I'm very glad that you've been there all along."

Lewellyn hopes to make this an annual event that will eventually raise money for emergency services in the Minot Community.
