Newburg Man Charged with Killing Two Boys Appears in Court

The Newburg man charged with running over a tent in a campground at Lake Metigoshe killing two boys and injuring two others made his initial appearance in court today.

30-year-old Juan Acosta appeared District Court in Bottineau.

Bond was set at 250-thousand dollars cash.

Acosta is charged with two counts of Manslaughter -Class B Felonies, two counts of Reckless Endangerment - Class C Felonies, Unauthorized Use Of A Motor Vehicle - a Class C Felony and Driving Under the Influence - a Class B Misdemeanor.

Two young boys from Texas - nine year old Cyris Ruiz and his five year old brother Alaries - were killed when the truck, that Acosta reportedly was driving, ran over their tent.

The boys' 28-year old father Juan Ruiz suffered serious injuries and another nine year old boy in the tent at the time had minor injuries.

Another court appearance has been scheduled for Acosta this Friday morning in District Court in Bottineau.
