Teddy Roosevelt Entertainer Visits Bismarck

Posted: Updated:

Just five years ago, a man from Illinois left his life in politics behind him to transform into a United States President.

"I'm bringing to life an iconic American, if I'm going to do Theodore Roosevelt, I'm going to do him the best I can." says Joe Wiegand.

Theodore Roosevelt comes alive in Medora, but for his first summer season performing in the historic town of Medora, Joe Wiegand is leaving quite an impression.

The Bismarck Rotary Club hosted Teddy at their meeting to share part of his one-man show.

Joe Wiegand himself used to work in politics, but has transformed his life, much like Teddy.

His performance is both funny and sad, and inspirational.

"I though the performance was terrific, brings in some of the humor and the things the president did over the years, just a treat." says Warren DeKrey/Bismarck Rotary Club.

"I thought he was very good, he adlibs very well to the audience and he's very well performed." says Dr. Albert Watrel.

"North Dakota audiences love TR and they know some if not all of his history, but also appreciative of learning something new." says Wiegand.

Members with the Medora Foundation first met Wiegand at the White House, while performing for President Bush.

He has also performed in all 50 states for Teddy's 150th birthday.

You can see his one-man show weekly at the Old Town Hall in Medora Monday through Friday 4-5 p.m.
