A solution to the housing shortage becomes a focus of the Dalrymple campaign.
Governor Jack Dalrymple says infrastructure for affordable housing development is key.
The governor's plan includes an additional 12 million dollars in FLEX Pace Buydown funds--estimated to generate $125 million in private housing development.
If elected the Governor would also direct BND to double the size of the Housing Incentive Fund to 30 million dollars--expected to result in roughly $240 million in housing projects and to continue using the Energy Impact Fund to further develop residential housing in oil areas.
(Jack Dalrymple / ND Governor) "What we are seeing is people moving west to east now, particularly when they approach retirement age. We are seeing a shortage of housing really in most of our communities. So we will have to orient these programs more and more to the entire state."
Dalrymple says increasing the Housing Incentive Fund would also help reduce rental rates.
