Thursday kicks off the start of the Urban Harvest in downtown Bismarck.
To start things off, a contest made people get creative with garbage.
Karen Erickstad is one of many trying to persuade the City Commission to adopt curbside recycling, which is why she along with others are spreading the message about how important recycling is.
"We're trying to raise awareness about trash and just to get people thinking about the tings we use everyday and how that impacts the environment, the resources we're using and how it effects the environment once we're disposing of it," Karen Erickstad said.
Those taking part in the contest we're able to learn about the importance of recycling and also make everything from robots to jet packs.
"I used buttons and a plastic milk jug, can tops," Jack Mitchell said.
At least two more of the recycle contests will be going on in Bismarck this summer.
