It's not the sunny and warm weather that is bringing many golfers out to Apple Creek Golf Course near Bismarck .

Today is the 1st annual Kurt Schreiner Memorial Golf Tournament for suicide prevention and awareness.

Kurt, who passed away in January 2009, used to be an avid golfer.

That is why his sister decided to put this golf tournament together in his memory.

(Kursten Dienert)"I don't even know if there is words to describe what this means to me today. Our family is so blessed to have such a great community that has supported this event and supported us with the loss of my brother. And today is really about remembering the good times and having a good time."

Proceeds for the tournament will be used toward suicide prevention and educational programs for military, veterans, and their families in North Dakota.
