By the end of the summer, children with special needs in the Minot area will have a brand - new baseball field.
Construction has begun on what is called "a Miracle Field" on the north edge of the South Hill complex on land owned by the park district.
Organizers are excited, as they have been raising funds for this project the past 2 1/2 years.
Coordinator Harvey Herslip says this will be the only field of it's kind in North Dakota. It will be a rubberized field designed specifically for handicap equipment - a huge improvement over the field the Dream Catchers are currently using.
Harvey Herslip, Project Coordinator " the kids with wheelchairs, walkers and even braces have a hard time in the sand, they have a buddy that helps them, but to see them buzz around with their electric wheelchairs, we think it is going to be great
The group has raised 260-thousand dollars for this project, but they need more funds for the finishing touches.
