Kite Festival in Minot

Posted: Updated:

Today's breeze was just enough for kite flyers to enjoy an afternoon of fun at Minot's first Kite Festival.

The Festival welcomed kite flyers of all ages to participate in the two-day event that took place at Maysa Arena Lawn and Sky.
The event was held yesterday and today from 10 this morning to 4 in the afternoon.
While this is Minot's first attempt at hosting the festival, kite festivals have been taking place throughout North Dakota for many years.

Event coordinators described the idea for a Kite Event as spur of the moment, but say it's a popular sport in the Magic City.

(Paul Lutzen, Event Coordinator)"You'd be surprised how many people are out there that kite and are interested in it.  I think it will take off and it will be a good thing for Minot."

Event Coordinators hope to continue the tradition next year and have music and food available throughout the afternoon.
