Bismarck Police responded to what was initially thought to be a report of gunshots around 6:50pm tonight.
Bismarck police Lt. Steve Cysewski says it turns out a lithium-ion battery exploded outside of the building at 333 West Interstate Avenue. Cysewski says the fire department found fragments of the battery after a search of the building turned up nothing.
Cysewski says his shift reacted with "full response" and surrounded the building after the initial call came in. He says officers searched the building including the apartment that neighbors thought the explosion came from. He says no one was home.
Posts on the KX Facebook page suggested a shootout had taken place at the corner of Washington Street and Interstate Avenue after a loud noise had been heard.
Cysewski says it turns out the call was much ado about nothing.
