Fair Pushes Kid Rock Tickets

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota State Fair grandstand line-up opens with a rockin' start on Friday night.
The first day of the festival closes with Kid Rock and special guest Uncle Kracker...and Fair officials say great tickets are still available.
Perry Olson talked with marketing director Jennifer Ashley about the opening performance today.

He's a headliner from Detroit...and ready to arrive Friday in Minot for the North Dakota State Fair.  The rocker was scheduled to be here last summer...so landing him this year was considered a get for fair officials...

(Jennifer Ashley - NDSF Marketing Director) "We were very lucky to get Kid Rock back on board and I think he is just as excited as we are to be at the North Dakota State Fair this year."

Kid Rock's performance, along with opening act Uncle Cracker, aren't part of the grandstand showpass that has sold out of reserved seating...and Ashley says the hope is ticket sales for Friday's concert pick up this week.

(Jennifer Ashley - NDSF Marketing Director) "He is definitely very excited to be here.  His people are excited to be able to book him again and he really supports things like this so we are glad that he could come."

His show...as you might imagine from this...is intense...but does have a bit of everything in it.

(Jennifer Ashley - NDSF Marketing Director) "From what I hear he opens up pretty wild and tames it down a bit during the show and then he ends it with a bang as well."

Maybe taking the path that is hoped for the fair -- opening big...settling in with good numbers through the week -- and closing with a bang...

(Jennifer Ashley - NDSF Marketing Director) "It is that same fair that everyone remembers from the past but it will be bigger and better this year..."

In Minot, Perry Olson, KX News.

Ashley says if you are looking for Kid Rock tickets today or tomorrow -- booking online is best, but if you are buying Friday, it is best to just buy them at the grandstand box office.
