The target is ready for Aim, and opening with a bang...

Schmidt Bottom's shooting range south of Mandan opens today.
Chris Grondahl with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department says shooters are already taking advantage of it and the range has been pretty busy already this morning.

(Chris Grondahl/ ND Game & Fish)"We've got 100 yard target range, 200 yard target range, a shot gun range as well as a hand gun range, it's a lot larger then what was here before.">>

Grondahl says there are cameras at the gun range -- to help enforce the safety and cleanliness of the range.
The rules are posted on white signs.
Grondahl says he hopes users will feel safe and comfortable being here.

(Chris Grondahl/ND Game & Fish) " This gun range because of the way we went about construction and along with the NRA standards it's probably thee best for sure in the state as far as public ranges and it's the first one."

North Dakota Game and Fish are working improving four other ranges, including the Mclean Range that will be done next summer
