Pride of Dakota Day

Posted: Updated:

The fair grounds were full of North Dakota pride today as local business gathered to sell their products.

Pride of Dakota day kicked off early in the afternoon with a lunch to celebrate local North Dakota businesses.
Shoppers were also welcome--the event featured over 20 local vendors placing their merchandise on display.
While over 200 Pride of Dakota businesses are food companies, other goods such as jewelry, scarves, clothing, and homemade soaps were available for purchase.
Marketing Director for the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, Katie Pinke, says the state's expanding population offers Pride of Dakota businesses a chance to expand as well.

(Katie Pinke, Marketing and Division Director-North Dakota Department of Agriculture)"I think it's really supporting our rural North Dakota businesses as well as our businesses from all of our major populated areas as well.  And I think there's a unique opportunity that as North Dakota's growing we also have an opportunity to grow our small businesses that are already here."

While only a portion of Pride of Dakota business were present at the fair today, over 500 businesses belong to the organization.
