When you talk about spectacular years for the North Dakota State Fair, 2010 is certainly at the top of the list. More than 300-thousand came through the gates two years ago...an all-time record.
But 2012 may be just a few days away from topping that. With just three days left the 2012 version is running about eight thousand people ahead of 2010...and that has State Fair manager Renae Korslien smiling. She says a combination of top notch performers, more people in the region, good weather, and perhaps the desire to get back to the fair after the flood wiped last year out has meant a super week.
Korslein says even yesterday -- typically a slow day at the grandstand -- was impressive with about 69-hundred coming to take in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. That is the best Wednesday concert in years at the fair she said.
