Saddle Up for St. Jude's Trail Ride

Posted: Updated:

Around 48 riders saddled up for a seven mile fundraising trail ride.

All proceeds go to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

This is Priscilla Sauer's second time coordinating the trail ride.

She says her four daughters are also involved helping raise money, and demonstrate a love and comfort with horses.

Her youngest has been riding since she was six months old.

"It's just fun getting out there helping kids that don't ever get the chance to come out here." says Krystal Sonnenberg/14-year-old.

"I hope they come out to have fun, I hope they know that sometimes in life you can't control things, and when you're on top of a 1,200 pound horse and you control it, it gives a teenager the ability to say hey, I'm in control and hopefully that instills that they can direct their life in the right way." says Priscilla Sauer/St. Jude Trail Ride Coordinator.

Priscilla continued with the event in spite of her own mother's current medical struggles.

She says she wants her girls to take home a big lesson from the St. Jude's ride.

"Give back, have fun and give back, if you can do one thing it's helping someone else, pass it on, pass it on." says Sauer.

They raised around 4,800 dollars that will go toward St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
