Rebuilding Fund Established

Posted: Updated:

4.3 million dollars has been distributed to flooded homeowners in the form of expense reimbursement from the Minot Area Recovery Fund.
Minot Area Community Foundation staff and volunteers were able to reach nearly 2500 households.

The Community Foundation also provided more than $630,000 worth of assistance to entities like the "I Helped Rebuild Minot" grant for sheetrock and the Rotary Club "Planting Hope" campaign.
One year after the Recovery Fund was established, the Community Foundation board has renamed the fund to Minot Area Rebuilding Fund.
The Foundation is actively fundraising for the Rebuilding Fund and that money will now take a role to assist flood-related impacts, such as park recovery or domestic violence.

(Ken Kitzman, Minot Area Community Foundation President) "We're in the right position. We're in the right position. They've trusted us with how we've handled these funds so we will continue that. We will continue to dedicate it to the rebuilding process."

The individual assistance portion of the fund was capped so that all eligible homeowners received the same amount.
Unclaimed expense reimbursement is still set aside for qualifying flooded homeowners.
