Corbett Field Repairs Soon

Posted: Updated:

If all goes as planned this time around, Corbett Field will be back in the game next spring.
American Builders of West Fargo has agreed to correct an outfield drainage problem that prevented Corbett Field from reopening after the flood.

Groundskeeper Mike Littler says that the grade was not done correctly when American Builder laid the sod this spring.
The drainage problem runs from foul line to foul line.
Water tends to pool in two or three spots in the outfield, killing the grass.
Littler says water-puddles form after only 30 minutes of irrigation.
If the field were properly graded, that water should be draining and the field should be ready to play ball within 20 minutes.

(Mike Littler, Corbett Groundskeeper) "They can still use our sod because we've been keeping it alive. That's the only thing we've been doing is maintaining it. No fertilizer. No airification. No nothing until they decided that they were going to fix the problem. They are so I would think they'll come in and cut it out and start right away with their dirt work and go all the way across then layer it back up."

American Builders will be back during the first week of September for repairs.
