Strength and security come in numbers.
That's the idea behind "National Night Out."
The event locally is being held at the Sertoma Soccer Complex on North Hill.
Hundreds of people have gathered here at the soccer complex to take part in "National Night Out."
The Minot Police Department, includes the Bomb Squad, SWAT Team, and K-9 Unit, The Ward County Sheriff's Department, Surrey Police Department, Highway Patrol, Minot Air Force Base Security Forces, Border Patrol, Minot Fire & Rural Fire and Community Ambulance are all here.
The goal is to strengthen ties with safety and rescue officials along with people in the community help promote safety and crime-prevention through a fun family event.
(Margie Zietz, Minot Police Department) "Especially with our growing community and the growing amount of police responses and calls we have out there we don't always have a positive look on law enforcement and the bad and good in the community, this is a good way to meet your neighbors and meet the other people in our community and they want to stay safe too, take kind of that fear out of our community that's changing. Yes we're changing but there's things we can do to make it more safe.
"National Night Out" runs until 8 o'clock here at the soccer complex on North Hill.
It's free to attend and there's lots to do for everyone of all ages includes an array of bouncy houses that are made for kids of all ages.
