It's technically a botanical fruit, but it's considered a vegetable.
Either way the Tomato is one of the more diverse foods that is grown and it's being celebrated once again at the State Fair Center for the 24th annual Great Tomato Festival.

More than a thousand people filled the facility to take part in the great food and fundraising effort.
Peggy Miller, one of the organizers, says the fine food reputation keeps people coming back year after year and the money raised is going to several great causes.

(Peggy Miller, Great Tomato Festival) "This year will be the Taube Museum and the Minot Public Library and we have the Lewis and Clark Foundation as well. And the symphony is involved and we'll be coming on board full time next year and basically doing all of our volunteer recruiting."
