Celebrating Reading...with Fun

Posted: Updated:

It was a fun send-off for summer this morning at Minot's South Hill Complex where a season full of reading was celebrated.

This was the 'Super Duper Reading Fun Day' event -- sponsored by Minot Public Library and the Ward County Library as well.
Kids who spent the summer in a good book or two spent the morning playing some kickball, maybe strapping on the sumo wrestling suit, or getting their faces painted.
Paulette Nelson with the Library says 2012 was a super year for reading in Minot...

(Paulette Nelson - Minot Public Library) "It has been a really really good year and after last year we were hoping it would be good and we had over 1000 kids sign up at our library."

Minot's Recreation Commission got a little financial shot in the arm today as well...thanks to Ryan Chevrolet.
A check for about 35-hundred was presented to MRC...and then they tossed in an additional 500 as well to make it about four thousand dollars that the Rec will use to buy new equipment for next year's season.
