A drive on 31st Avenue may have you doing a double take -- especially if you were going to stop by Gate City Bank. The old location has been demolished...and already work has started on a brand new facility. Peggy Johnson with Gate City says a new 53-hundred square foot facility will soon take shape right here at this location. This has been in the works for over a year...in fact the flood pushed back plans by a year, but now is the time to make the improvements...
(Peggy Johnson - Gate City Bank) "We are just seeing lots of growth like other banks so we could really use the additional space."
The new location will feature plenty of room to expand...and Johnson says they plan on adding staff when the new bank is open...until then though, you can still bank at this location...here, in the temporary, small set up...

Johnson says if all goes to plan Gate City Bank should be ready to open in March...and, watch for possible news of a new location on North Hill in the future as well.
Speaking of North Hill, Hampton Inn and Suites has now officially opened on North Broadway. The latest in a long line of hotels opening across the region -- including in Stanley, where Target Logistics has opened a hotel now as well.
