The Bismarck High Demons enter fall camp with the most returning All Staters in Class AAA.
But it's some of the Demons that aren't returning that have Head Coach Mark Gibson disappointed.
"Tia Streeter-KX Sports: Two offensive lineman will not be back with the Demons this fall, one of them is last years center, who was an All State performer. Gibson says that's 550 pounds of pass protection gone due to training violations. That's a huge blow before the first whistle even happens.
Mark Gibson-BHS Head Coach: it's just not something we want to start off with so hopefully we find some kids and kids that weren't going to get the chance now do get the chance and we'll find out what they're made of.
Brett Adam-BHS Senior WR: Our offense has to prove itself with our two lineman missing but Bismarck High reloads every year so we'll be alright.
Tia Streeter-KX Sports: While that marks a major loss, all eyes will be on the quarterback. Gibson has always stressed that a team with a returning starting QB has a leg up. For the Demons Ben Jolliffe is back and expectations will be high.
Mark Gibson-BHS Head Coach: Fantastic that's the thing we've been to a couple camps we're way ahead of the spot where we've been in the past and he's a kid if he had his preference he'd throw the ball every down but the one thing about him he's a winner and his overall goal is to win a football game at the end and that's the most important to him
Tia Streeter-KX Sports: Typical to Gibson's style, practice has been intense, because he knows what it takes to win.Like most of his teams, the defensive side of the ball will again be a swarm.
Mark Gibson-BHS Head Coach: defensively we return more starters on that side of the ball and I think the one thing is our overall defensive speed has been pleasing for us and that's one thing we pride ourselves on is getting 11 guys to the ball every time and we've been extremely pleased with those kids so far."
Bismarck High is having a meet and greet for the public, August 17th at 6 PM at Hughes Field.
Food will be served, there's a raffle and you can buy apparel, and also meet the players and coaches.
