They're thinking ribs in Watford City today as the annual Ribfest took over the city's main street right.
It seems that ribs are big in western North Dakota these days.
A couple of weeks ago, a Bar-B-Que competition was held in Ray.
And soon, another rib cook-off will arrive in Stanley -- this one to benefit the emergency responders of Mountrail County.
Organizers hope many teams sign up before the Monday deadline -- large oil companies -- small companies -- and individuals can all compete in different rib-making categories.
The actual event is on the 25th of the month at the Mountrail County Fair Building just south of Stanley -- and everyone is invited out to pay the five dollar cover fee to sample the pork ribs.
(Sally Holland - Event Organizer) "We are having a rib cook-off and we are calling all rib cookers to come and try out the best recipe you have. All the money will be going to the Mountrail County emergency responders."
(Ken Halvorson - Mountrail County Sheriff) "Being volunteers as they are they can always use a little revenue to buy equipment or whatever. We don't know what this is going to generate, we hope it goes well and we are planning for the best."
Halvorson stressed the proceeds will go to the volunteers like fire and ambulance squads throughout the county -- not the Sheriff's Department.
